I am a SN right now...i'll be taking my BM3 test in a week. Shortly after that will make BM3 and be on my way to another unit.... My questions are... Do you have to stay with MSRT for a certain number of years because of the training and money they put into you? I have 3 years left on my contract. Next question is, does MSRT train with Navy Seals, and other Special Forces or Federal agencies? Also Is MSRT the same as TACLET? Because i heard that MSRT used to be TACLET NORTH?? Any other information you can give would be greatly appreciated.

An MSRT is probably not going to be on your list, and if you make third anytime before June you are going to get the left over list from this last transfer season. The striker detailer will email you and the rest of the strikers that are out of billet and aren't fleeting up with the left over list. Then you will all rank the picks top to bottom. Then the detailer will tell you where you are going.

My list was mostly 378s and stations in inland places like Wisconsin, PA, and middle-of-nowhere, and we got it at the end of February when the rest of orders were slated. If you make third after that list is out and aren't a part of it, then you will likely get a phone call something along the lines of, "Hey, you have a choice from these 4 places, I would like to know where you want to go by the end of the phone call".

To avoid all of that I requested to fleet up and finish my tour at the priority two unit, so that I could get the priority with the next transfer season. If there is an option to fleet up at your unit, unless you absolutely hate it, I would highly recommend it because this is kind of the worst time of the year to be making BM3.

I dislike my UNIT greatly! I want to do a lot of law enforcement. I plan on getting out and I want to do Law Enforcement when i'm out but hopefully on the state or federal level; which is why i don't want to just do a small boat station and do mom and pop boardings all the time. The reason i ask is because on direct access under create a resume there are 3 MSST units and the MSRT unit on the list for BM3. I understand how the picks go for strikers two guys just got done striking here 4 months ago and one stayed to get that priority and the other left and had 50 something units to choice from.

If you understand the striker transfer process then you will know that those billets are for the current Priority 4 and 5s that are still up fro transfer season, you are going to get a left over list, and guarenteed somebody out of the probably 150 people that are still transfering will want those units.

The reason why he had 50 to pick from is because that was right before transfer season started and those were current vacancies that were probably critical fills due to people getting in trouble, getting hurt, or getting out.

I made snbm in july of 2011, didn't get a list to pick from until february of 2012, and that was after the transfer season was over. You shouldn't even put in a dream sheet. If you want to talk to the detailer you can request your command talks to him to find out what to expect.

If you google Coast Guard PSC Hot Word, there is a PDF that talks ALL about this. It repeats that strikers don't transer with transfer season, and are treated that way because they aren't going to have you compete for a job that somebody that is TOUR COMPLETE wants. Meaning they've been a third for probably 3-4 years and you will be a third for about a month.
