I am going to boot camp in about 2 weeks and was going over the list of permitted items in the Helmsman and had some questions that I couldn't find the answer too on here.  If anyone has the answers or has a link to the answers please let me know.

    1.  Should the underwear be boxer briefs or the "whitey tightie's"? Would white compression's be recommended?

    2. I plan to bring long johns to have on the safe side.  Should they be cloth or spandex material?

    3. The all black compression shorts, can they have a different color stitching or does everything on them have to be black no matter what?

any and all help is appreciated thanks in advance.

Performance fabric for the long johns. Polypros are a standard type.

You can wear whatever type underwear you are comfortable with and used to. If you don't typically wear compression underwear, it might be something that takes an adjustment period. You don't want that in boot. But as long as it is white and comfortable for you, wear what you like.

Remember if you bring long johns you will be expected to keep them as neat as everything else. You might not end up wearing them at all. But you will have to be sure they are perfect all the time, just the same. Most have said they are rarely needed at all. But that's your call. Just something to keep in mind.

As long as the stitching isn't hot, vibrant pink that will stand out... You'll be fine. Navy blue, white, black stitching, all fine. Flame orange probably not recommended. Not for boot at least.

    Good luck! Have fun!!
