I ship out to Cape May soon, and I was just curious as to the vaccinations given at boot camp. Are they currently giving out the smallpox vaccine? Also, I've heard from friends in other branches (Army, Navy, etc) about the infamous "peanut butter" shot that hurts like hell and gets injected into your rear. Does the Coast Guard give out this shot as well? I'm not scared of either of them, just curious.

I actually just got discharged from boot camp due to a small weight issue and I went through forming week which is 2 days medical and yes we did get shots but never a shot in the butt. I'm not sure about the small pox vaccine though. I can't remember the names of them but I only got 3. 1 in each arm then the tb test which is just liquid injected under the skin on your forearm. Other than those we just got blood drawn. Those were the only needles that pricked me. None in the rear.
