So I am buying a 1960 Chris craft constellation 55 foot that i plan to use for charter. I hold a masters license but I need to know not only what is required but where or who certifies your vessel to be used for more than 6 people ( i know the vessel has to be inspected and rated i just dont know where to start or what i need to have on board or do to the boat to have it pass the inspection process). Any help in this matter would be appreciated, Thank you.

Contact your local MSU (Marine Safety Unit) or MSD (Marine Safety Detachment). They can do your inspection. Visit uscg.mil to find your nearest one.
