I am prior Army, was enlisted for 4 years, additionally, Army National Guard for 2.  The question is, I have been separated from the Army since Aug 2007 and National Guard since April 09, this is longer than 5 years of separation, am I still eligible to join the Active Coast Guard?  Not sure if this information will help but it can't hurt.  In 2014 I obtained a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice,  I am 31 years old and still in great shape, no drugs, and nothing medically wrong.  Thank you in advance for any help or answers.

As long as that time in the NG was not all active duty time. Those coming in for active duty as an E-3 can't have more than 6 years of prior active service. If you otherwise qualify, you'll attend the 3 week basic training instead of the full 8, due to completion of a minimum 2 year military contract.

A bit of advice, get your DD214, retirement points statement and NGB22. Your active, NG and IRR time count towards creditable service for pay. You'll need this stuff anyway but make sure you have it so after your in you can make sure they credit you correctly.

+1 for this bit of advice.  The CG managed to screw up my pay. It took me 11 years to fix, but it also cost them $15,000 in back pay they ultimately owed me
