I am a former USCG reservist, discharged for being non-complaint with weight standards, and failing to pass weight probation. I was discharged in 2017. I am now fully within weight standards by a considerable amount, and interested in exploring options for possible re-enlistment either within the USCG, or another branch. I was never provided a copy of my DD 256/257 or notified of my re-enlistment status upon separation.

I've requested a copy of my discharge paperwork from USCG PSC, but am hoping if any of you are familiar with what this type of situation warrants? I've looked online and it looks like this might fall under an RE-3T, but I hear it can vary greatly. I have no other discipline or negative history on file besides my weight issue. I am also waiting on a few things before I contact a recruiter so I do not feel comfortable contacting them if I'm not fully committed to the process just yet.

Thank you for all your help and sorry for the long post!

RE-3's are generally waiverable. You would need to show the condition that existed upon discharge; (being overweight), doesn't exist any longer. They would process the waiver and wait for approval or denial.
