    Hey fellow Coast Guardsmen,

I'm John, 25, from Belmar NJ. I attended Drew University where i was an NCAA D3 Swimmer. Ive been a lifeguard for ten years during the summer, and more recently have volunteered with the After hours/year round Water Rescue Team here in belmar.  We responded to Hurricane Sandy, where we all got a lot of valuable experience working in disaster conditions and with some serious law enforcement and rescue people who came from all over the country to help.

Ive always thought about the Coast Guard as a potential career path, and Im finally taking the leap!  Im excited to be leaving on February 11th for basic training, and look forward to continuing my lifesaving and seagoing career in the United States Coast Guard. Ive always though of the Coast Guard as the ultimate evolution of lifeguarding.

Looking forward to serving our great nation
God Bless the United States of America,

    John
