Hello everyone! I've been on this forum for the past couple months during my recruiting devouring the helpful information and awesome experiences.
Anyways, my name is Tayler Afaisen, 21 , and I'm from Guam. At first it was difficult going forward with CG because they closed the recruiting office here and the liason was not helpful in any way, shape, or form. Well, that didn't stop me and I decided to call Hawaii and got helped immediately (my recruiter said it was because I had an impressive 95 on the AFQT).
After that call in March, I got scheduled to fly out for meps in early April and the meps experience was great with no horror stories or long waits (I finished everything in about 3 hours with about 20 other people). I passed with flying colors except for my eyes (Thanks Dad). So now I'm swearing into Deps tomorrow and I ship out July 21st from Hawaii.
I have a military background with an Officer/Recruiter for a father, and 2 brothers who are each in the air Force and army, instilling a good work ethic. So I'm excited to start my career and add USCG to my family's ranks.
Overall, I believe I'm ready for boot camp physically and mentally because of my wrestling training, family's advice and support, and my desire to become a part of the CG. But, any advice or anything else would be greatly appreciated.
