    I am army prior service with 4 years active and 2 years reserve, my rank E-5. I am 30 years old and with 3 dependants, wife and 2 children, can i join the coast guard?

    You would be eligible for the Reserves, but not for active duty. You are over the dependent limit which is 2.

    Waivers are extremely hard to come by. You would have to contact a recruiter and find out what your options are. Good luck and thanks for your service!

    You could try, there is another poster that recently received a dependent waiver. But I will tell you those are tough, tough, tough to come by! It isn't an absolute no but it is far from a guaranteed yes. Get in touch with a recruiter in your area. I could say no way Jose but I'm not a recruiter. I could say Welcome aboard shipmate, we would love to have you. But again, not a recruiter so my answer doesn't matter. Thank you for your service that you have already given and best of luck, I hope you can continue to serve.
