I am currently serving in the Army as a Warrant Officer 1. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, many, many personal issues caused me to fall behind in my studies and I was eliminated from flight training rather than given the opportunity to recover and resume training. I currently have three options available to me. My first option is to try to become an aviation maintenance warrant officer, which I am attempting to do, but the likelihood is very, very slim. The second option is to return to my previous enlisted MOS, which is aircraft engine repair as a specialist (E-4). My final option is to be discharged from the Army. To get to the point, I was wondering if I might be able to cross over into the coast guard as an AMT, since my Army background is in aviation maintenance. I currently have 4 years and 6 months of active duty time, I already have an AA degree, and I am now looking into completing my Bachelor's degree. I also am still interested in becoming an Officer and attending flight school in the Coast Guard if that is at all possible once my degree is finished or once I can qualify for OCS-T, whichever comes first. In addition to my degree, I've got a secret clearance, a private pilot fixed wing license and over 110 hours from my own civilian flight time, and over 100 hours of rotary wing time from Army flight training. My ASVAB score was a 98 with a GT score of 133. I would greatly appreciate any information that you could give me and I'm hoping that this is still a possibility. I do realize that AMT is tough to come by, but I'm open to other rates, as well, if it can get me in the Coast Guard and on this path.  Thank you for your time and input!

As a side note, my elimination was due to failing a test, so no UCMJ issues or anything like that and there shouldn't be any reason why I'd be given an RE code that would prevent me from enlisting. Also, I've got a few months (I've been told about 4-6 months) for the process to get out of the Army to go through, so there's a good chunk of time to square everything away between now and then should I take that option.

Almost forgot.. I also am married with one son and one stepson. I know the site says only 2 dependents, but I also noticed for the officer training programs, it's 3, so I'm unclear on how that works..

You won't be able to lateral over to AMT, the rating is full right now with a 2+ year wait for school. If you're eligible for enlistment (unlikely with 3 dependents) you'll be an E-3 again. If you're interested in the Officer route you'll have to apply for OCS when you're qualified. Best of luck to you!
