So im still in the process but wifey and i are trying get ballpark sketches of the earliest beginnings of an idea for a plan

We're thinking we may want to move to the Hampton Roads area, a place i spent alot of time as a Navy brat and have been trying to get an idea of units (types, not specific units) an undes could go thete (as if id have a choice!) and hopefully as a GM

I know there are the Medium endurance cutters there which i think would be fun, anything else? Any recommendations (or warnings) of certain units?
The USN is the one that got away, but I think the USCG might be the 'one'.

There's ANT Hampton Roads. I believe they have MKs, BMs, maybe an EM or two

Sector Hampton Roads has almost any billet there is in the CG. PSU 305 is nearby also and TRACEN Yorktown is close too. I have friends that, while on active duty, spent most of their career living in the same house in hampton roads area. There are a lot of units there.

Don't put the cart ahead of the horse. In boot camp you can want whatever you want, what you get might not be the same. I would focus far more energy on making sure you meet the physical standard, know the required knowledge, understanding what is expected in boot camp. You and the bride get too excited about Hampton Roads and you end up in Seattle, you're only going to be upset. Just focus on learning the Coast Guard first, not the units first. Best of luck.
