Our recruit just called from Cape May, week 6 and notified us that his first duty station is small boats, St. Ignace MI, Sector 9. What are the housing arrangements for single male non-rates? He is due to report October 15.

Personnel assigned to Small Boat Stations live on the economy. In other words, they find housing in the local area. New non rates usually will live at the station until they have their basic qualifications signed off. This includes Communications Watchstander and Boat Crew. A tip as far as terminology is concerned, sectors are not referred to by number, i.e. Sector 9. Sectors have a name. In this case it's Sector Sault Sainte Marie, within the 9th District. Districts are referred to by number, e.g. 9th District or also D9

Thanks so much for the reply CPORJM. We will work on learning our USCG terminology. Heading to Cape May tomorrow for MIKE-196 graduation. Only regret is that his grandfather (Army/USAR retired 27 years) who passed recently won't be there to hand him his certificate. We are very proud of him and his future in the USCG.
