    Hi,

I was hoping someone here might have some information for me. I am a little embarrassed to ask those in my flotilla directly. Will bad credit (failed business) and a minor misdemeanor for battery from 20+ years ago keep me out of the auxiliary? Thank you.

The failed business shouldn't. Were you convicted in the battery complaint? That could be a deal breaker. HOWEVER... If you report it (because they will find out), and outline the case, you may get a pass on it. The big thing here is integrity. If you do make it in, you'll probably have trouble with a security clearance should you choose a field that requires one. The only way you'll know for certain is to try. But trying involves revealing it. I wish you luck.

Yes on the conviction. No I did not report it because the application stated "felony or major misdemeanor" whereas mine was a class B a minor misdemeanor. Had it required any I would have divulged it. What has me concerned is from browsing this forum and other internet sites about the application process. The conviction didn't keep me out of the Air Guard or from attaining a security clearance there. I was worried that maybe with the combination of bad credit now and the conviction it might be too much.

I do appreciate your answer. Thank you very much.

As a fol-up I notified my Flotilla HR Officer of the conviction and emphasized had the app stated all misdemeanors I would have listed it to begin with. I do hope that my clean record since, expungement, and honorable discharge with eligible for reenlistment code since then will hold a better mark for me. Thanks.

If you got into the ANG after the fact, you should be fine.
