I have been wondering why the Coast Guard doesn't wear the U.S. lapel pin on their Dress Blues. I've researched it online and haven't found anything that speaks to it. Does anyone in the forum have any insight into this?

It's just not an item that has ever been a part of the Coast Guard uniform. The same reason that the Navy, Marine Corps, Public Health Service and NOAA Commissioned Corps don't wear them. The U.S. insignia are an Army thing that the Air Force carried over as part of their uniform.
