I've been in the Auxiliary since 2013, I've served in numerous "staff officer" positions, including Flotilla Vice Commander.

I recently "passed" the online Auxiliary Ombudsman course. What is the next step, if any, to use the Ombudsman class or is there more I need to do?

(I've served in the EMS field for years in the local government, non-military, service, so I have decades of experience giving both good and unfortunately, bad news).

I'd guess that the next part is the hardest.

You have to find a unit that needs an ombudsman, does not currently have one, and is open to having an AUXie do it, instead of a spouse. I've not heard about any particular effort by the Auxiliary to search out units who need an ombudsman.

Taking the class, does not mean a unit is going to come ask you to be their ombudsman. For the unit I work with all the time, they have always had two spouses who work together as co-ombudsman.

The National Staff is looking in to this very issue. That USCG's National Ombudsman coordinator spoke at the National Conference last month and was looking for assistance with the program. I just reached out to her today for further information, POC, etc., to get members interested a way to offer service. Once I receive this information and vet it. we will post on the mycgaux portal, Communities of Interest, Response & Prevention, Augmentation section. John Ellis DIR-Q

Very interesting. That is something that would greatly interest me. I would like to hear more about it so long as it is authorized for internet release.
