Because you know the Millennium Falcon would mop the floor with the Enterprise...

I am going to have to add to this mix, No one beats princess Vespa and the evil Lord Dark Helmet. You ask me, Barf and Lone Starr would find a way to take both the falcon and the enterprise!

With that being said, back to the original question. I am going with the reliable high tech and consistent upgrades the enterprise receives. When the enterprise docks, you see the maintenance and upkeep going into it. Periodic maintenance is performed, Communications and Navigation is updated, It is replenished and well stocked. The maintenance crews are extremely well trained and kept current on the latest directives and compliance orders. Corrosion control is perfected and the enterprise never leaves dock without all paint complete. Additionally, as with all military type organizations, the crew is superb and protocol is observed. Have you ever seen a crew member not show up to watch? (aside from true interplanetary malignants and all). The crew has the utmost respect for their CO and orders are followed immediately. You don't see that very often...especially not on the millennium falcon.

I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Coastie, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

Well comparing the crew of the Enterprise to that of the Falcon is like comparing apples and Twix bars. One is a military vessel, the other is a smuggler's toy. A more accurate comparison would be something like the Enterprise and the Lusankya or Executor. In which case, I'm willing to bet people showed up on time and respected their CO. If they didn't Vader would force choke them just for breathing wrong.

As for technology... again, comparing those two vessels is an unfair judgment. The YT-1300 was outdated long before the original trilogy is set. the YT-2400s were already out. And again, even without the modifications, the YT series were freighters. The Enterprise is an exploration vessel.

And then there is still the argument I always present... in the sci-fi scheme of things, Star Trek sciences and philosophy seem unrealistic by comparison. I mean really? Society without money... especially getting mankind to accept it? Or how about replicators that manifest food out of thin air?

There you have Star Fleet's biggest flaw. When opposition is encountered the CO of the Enterprise has rules to follow, personnel, training, property, etc, etc, etc, to account for. There's no way he/she is going to move the ship into an asteroid field to catch one frieghter even if he is carrying the only known weakness for the Borg.

Han Solo would look over his shoulder at the 'Prise, look at the asteroid field and floor it. He's not bound by any rule with the exception of the ones to deliver and survive.

You ask me, Barf and Lone Starr would find a way to take both the falcon and the enterprise!

Maybe, until Dark Helmet unleashes Mega-Maid and then the worm turns.

Exactly Capt, Enterprise would "live to fight another day" using the exceptional intellect of a proven crew! The Falcon would be like the local backyard fisherman going out in the middle of a small craft advisory. "Now launch the ready tractor beam, errant falcon bearing 320 degrees acting like an idiot.....again" lol

I still say we're arguing about a drastically different class of ship here. Having done a little research now...

Millennium Falcon - 26.7 meters in length
Enterprise "Galaxy" class - 652 meters (The smallest being the "Constitution" class from the original series - 289 meters)

    Standard crew
    Millennium Falcon - 2
    Enterprise "Galaxy" class - 1018

Now the only thing I can find comparable is the Nebulon-B escort frigate which is roughly 300 meters in length.
    Nebulon-B escort Frigate - 300 meters
Constitution class starship - 289 meters

    Neb crew - 854 + 66 gunners (307 minimum)
Constitution class starship crew - 430

Neb Frigate speed - I can't seem to find it, but judging by what I know of other speeds, I'd say 1.1 x the speed of light
Constitution class star ship - Warp 6 safely (Warp 9 with extreme risk) Warp 9 being defined as 834 x the speed of light (one of the major arguments against the "realism" of Star Trek)

Shields on both are relatively the same in concept and strength from what I can find.

Neb Frigate armament - 12 X17 turbo lasers (for ship to ship combat) and 12 RH8 laser cannons (for defense against snub fighters)
Constitution class star ship - 12 phasers (which create artificial particles to shoot... in other words, they create matter another impossibility) and 6 photon torpedo tubes which were essentially anti-matter torpedoes.

Now here's where I really think the Neb frigates advantage comes in.... - 24 TIE fighters, several Grek class troop shuttles, and several Katam class boarding shuttles
Constitution class star ship - I think it's 2 maybe 4 type F shuttle craft

I think in a firefight, the Neb-B cruiser would launch it's fighters, and between it's guns and the fighter guns, the Enterprise can't defend itself. Especially since the Enterprise can only fire it's photon torpedoes forward or aft, while the Neb-B PREFERS to broadside you.

What kind of fleet does Star Trek have since Roe brought it up. I'll but the Falcon vs 'Prise would hav a clear winner. But, what about ship to ship. What chance would the 'Prise have against a Super Star Destroyer or the Death Star? Even the Borg couldn't adapt and assimilate firepower of that magnitude.

Heh, and just think... the only Nebulon-B Frigate you see in Star Wars is a medical frigate....

But my personal favorite was always the Interdictor-class Star Destroyers.
    30 XX-9 Heavy Turbolasers
    30 NK-7 Ion Cannons
    48 TIE Interceptors
    12 TIE Bombers
and an array of landing/boarding craft
    And 4 Gravity Well projectors.

These things would sit in a hyperspace lane, pull ships out of hyperspace, and open fire before they even realized what had happened. Not to mention that's it's almost 3 times the size of the Enterprise with WAY more fire-power and shielding. And it's not even the most powerful Star Destroyer by a long shot.

Kinda sad when you think about. The Death Star could destroy a planet, but all it tok was some kid from a backwater planet to turn it to rubbish.

He DID have the advantage of The Force... but agreed. Guaranteed that if the guy wasn't dead already, whoever designed the Death Star got force choked after that.

After the first one, you would think the Emperor would have waited until the second one was finished before unleashing it. Common sense tells me, if the rebels are savvy enough to find the Achilles' heal of an impenetrable fortress then a half-built space station probably won't stand a chance.

Yes, but we only got to see Carrie Fisher in that costume for about 20 seconds of screen time in one movie, albeit one I saw many times. After that, she went back to wearing cloaks and stuff.

On the other hand, Jeri Ryan was in that unitard for probably 15 minutes of screen time in 27 episodes a year for five years, for a grand total of more than 30 hours of screen time.

    I am deeply conflicted...

The unitard, while more prescient, leaves plenty to the imagination. Camera tricks, girdles, etc can be employed to improve the overall package. Princess Leia was laid out for the whole world to see.

After seeing the new Star Wars, which is pretty much a plagiarized Episode IV, I'd have to say Star Trek now. I'm disappointed in Star Wars. I never thought the story lines were all that amazing or revolutionary, but they just keep repeating the same story with better technology.

I kind of have the same frustration, however, let me offer two points of view..

The new movies have to establish a new story surrounding new characters that won't alienate the old. There had to be familiarity to draw old fans in and with enough new material to make it feel fresh. The universe has been established, so the next installment should be pretty dark and original.

On a more esoteric note.. The First Order rose from the ashes of the Empire. The Stormtroopers, Kylo Ren, tie fighters, tactics, etc mirror all the things the Empire did because that's what they knew. It explains the similarities, the Empire had a Death Star that could destroy a planet, the First Order built a Starkiller Base that could destroy a system. They had their first stalemate and hopefully will learn and understand why the Empire ultimately failed and change tactics.

Don't lose faith just yet, the Force is still strong with this one.

gears is right. having read all the expanded universe books back when i was in elementary school these next movies are on the right track. they skipped alot of stuff that should take place between episode 6 and 7 but its no big. they skipped alot of stuff between episode 3 and 4 too but no one seems to mind.

from what ive seen so far, the story is continuing just as it should. i could ruin alot of whats supposed to be happening but thats not cool lol. i guess i would probably share the same opinion as mkelly if i never had read any of the little books.

shadows of the empire is a story they HAVE to do!
