I was wondering if I can some active duty personnel to help me to decide wether to wait till boot camp to pick a district or pick one now I was offered districts 1,3,8,9,13 what's the smartest decision? I'm new to this forum I barley know how to work it. So if anyone Is able to email me that would be great as well. im thinking of picking one that I will be somewhat ok with because at least its guaranteed. plz let me know what to do.

also if ppl have news on the covid basic training and what to be prepared for shoot me an email or response on here if I can find one it would be greatly appreciated!!

    THANKS!

A guaranteed district is a nice thing. Look at a district map. Are any of those areas attractive to you? D8 is pretty enormous so you can be anywhere from the Canadian border to the gulf of Mexico. D1 is nice but if you don't like the area, it doesn't matter if I think it is nice. Having that guarantee of at least knowing where you are headed, that could be a little less stress in boot camp. That decision is only something you can make. My only suggestion is you choose something away from home. Go somewhere that's new, exciting, an adventure. Home will always be where home is. You have an opportunity to see the world... Go see it!

There are a few posts and info about Covid and boot camp. I have not kept up on it to the degree that I would have a lot of useful information. I know there is a 2 weeks quarantine period when you get there. How it all works and what is done. I am not sure of the particulars. Hopefully a recent graduate can stop by and give more information. Best of luck! Good choices in front of you, enjoy!

District 3 isn't a thing. What type of climate are you looking for? 13 is the Pacific Northwest, 1 is the Atlantic Northeast, 9 is the great lakes and 8 is the entire center of the country from Texas to the Canadian border. With guaranteed district only the district is guaranteed, not the type of unit. You could be on a cutter or small boat station or aids to navigation team. If you have an idea of where in the country you want to go I would suggest getting it guaranteed before you get to boot camp.

In regards to COVID in boot camp you will go through a 2 week quarantine period when you first arrive. Everyone will have a rack mate and that person is the only one you are allowed to be within 6 feet of for 2 weeks. Everyone is tested for covid upon arrival. Wearing masks is mandatory in all indoor settings. After graduation you will be sent straight to your unit and not allowed to go home in most circumstances. Leave is not being granted after graduation. When you go to your first unit you will only have what you brought with you to cape may and what was issued to you.
