ASVAB score and OCS and MST?

    You need  a 115 to qualify for MST but how is this calculated? Is a AFQT: 79 qualifying? and lastly does the USCG use the ASVAB or ASTB for OCS and if the ASVAB is used, is a 79 competitive enough for OCS? thanks!!!

    The 115 is going to be a combination of specific sections of the ASVAB. In this case it would be a combination of Verbal Ability and Arithmetic Reasoning. If you haven't already, your recruiter should be able to send you a detailed copy of your ASVAB scores to show if you qualify for each rate.

    And yes, your ASVAB is used for your OCS application and a 79 isn't bad, but it's definitely a combination of everything, so put your packet together to the best of your ability and see what happens.
