I am going to Cape May next week and I was wondering how Geobachelor works. My husband will be living in Canada until we can make his immigration paperwork for the US and my recruiter told me that while I am in Cape May I will be receiving BAH with dependents  for my home of record (California) but he didn't know what would happen at my first unit.

I was wondering if anyone here had experience with Geobachelor and possibly doing this internationally could help me out with how this specifically works.

    Thanks

It doesn't matter where your spouse is. It matters where you are stationed. You either get BAH (married or w/dependents in your case) or you don't. The CG doesn't take Geo-bachelor into account. There is no geo-bachelor designation. My wife and I did this for a little while last year.

Actually upon arrival to your first unit if geobachelor you can request BAH rate protection from your home of record if it is higher than your first unit. I verified this with Cape May Admin for one of my recruits that will go in as a geo.

Will it matter if my husband is not living in the US?

Also, is there a specific publication where I can look this up?

Could pose an issue... I'd check the personnel and housing manuals.
