    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone on here was anticipating applying for SRDC this year and if any of the up coming board dates are known or available.  I missed the deadline last year and I want to make sure this does not happen again, but it appears that there is little to no information currently available.  I have kept in contact with my recruiter and he tells me that the dates should be announced any time now, but I thought it couldn't hurt to check to see if anyone had any information on here.

    Thanks in advance.

For fiscal year 2019 the panel met during the month of October. For the fiscal year 2018 the panel met during the mknrh of September. Assuming the same pattern continues, you can assume the panel will meet around those months this year. However, I would start gathering the documents now so when the time comes you are ready or almost ready.

Good points, and most of my required documentation is already compiled from last year.  What I was asking about was if anyone had any information on deadlines for this upcoming cycle.  I can see I wasn't clear on that in my first post.  Last year,  deadlines were clearly posted and even my recruiter has commented that it was strange that they aren't available yet.  This just seemed like a good place to see if anyone had any information.

Also, thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for anyone who is planning on applying this cycle.

I finally received the deadline dates for the upcoming board from my recruiter.  I am in the process of gathering all of the required documentation and rushing to get the required interviews done.  This has been an extremely hurry up and wait process for me so far and I am in an extremely tight time crunch now to get everything together by the deadline.

Anyone applying for SRDC/ROCI should know that the program has changed from a 3 week course to a 5 week course beginning June 2020. That may have impacts on civilian employment, but I'm not sure that word has gotten to the recruiters yet. Hopefully it does not dissuade anyone from applying.

I could certainly see where it might.  Many employers only offer 15 days paid military leave.  The more generous ones offer 30.  That would still leave the employee on the hook for the rest of the time.

Does anybody know what changed in the program that added the additional 2 weeks? I'm assuming the environment is still the same, boot-camp "ish", but just wondering what was changed with the class itself. That extra 2 weeks is a killer with young kids and a full time job. Going to have to really think about it now.

The O-4 on my interview panel indicated that he used to have a role in Officer training.  Basically he said "I saw 3 ROCI classes come through during my time in New London".   He went on to say that it has been long thought that the 3 week requirement for ROCI was way too short and there has been a goal to make it longer.  Basically indicating that 3 weeks is not long enough to learn everything you need.  The reserve O-3 was prior enlisted and went the SRDC/ROCI route and agreed that the extra 2 weeks is beneficial.

Just found out from my recruiter that the selection panel is scheduled to meet on 26 Aug. Haven't seen this posted yet, so I thought I would pass it along.

good.. i was told a later date in september.. but if it is in fact Aug..that mean results should be out by the end of September.. which would be great.

Is there an age limit to apply for reserve officer? I’m 35, with 6 years of time in the reserves but only like 6 months AD time.

You will be fine. 29 was the youngest in our ROCI class, 41ish was the oldest.  There are age waivers you can get.  You would be in the majority if you are 35 most of our class was mid 30's

Yes. I was called this morning by my recruiter to let me know I was a primary selectee. He said a letter should be on the way.

I just got the call.  I was selected.  My recruiter said that the letter should be on the way and that I would need to sign an acceptance and send it back.  He also said that duty assignments would most likely be announced closer to the end of the year.  I got conflicting information that we didn't have to accept until we knew our potential duty assignment.  Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Congrats! Based on what I have been told and what I believe others have heard (based on some DMs) I dont think many of us have a lot of details.  We have just been told to expect a letter soon.

Yeah, I've been told that the assignment comes with the acceptance letter, but last year's acceptance letters didn't do so, so I'm in the dark on that too. I wonder if it'll still be the same class size with the extended length of the course now. I've asked around a lot about the way the course is set up now (boot camp format or C-school format) and I've heard mixed responses, but nothing confirmed.

It appears that information about SRDC and ROCI is very limited outside of anyone who has actually went through it.  My recruiter is extremely helpful and does the best he can to find anything out I ask him, but it just seems that nobody has any idea how this process or the school actually work...except what they have heard from "some guys".  It would be helpful if there were still some people from FY19 on this board that could offer a bit of clarity on what to expect moving forward.

Congrats to all that were selected. I went thru ROCI this summer and I think we were all on the same boat before getting to CT. Just roll with the punches! Just a heads up, the next ROCI class is 5 weeks long so no one will have a clue of how it would work. If you have any questions please feel free to message me.

Just had a phone conversation with my recruiter and he said that we basically sit on our hands now until April 2020, then the ball will start rolling. Seems a bit strange that we need to return our signed LOI before even knowing where our assignment is.

No.  But I CC'd the individual who sent the email and followed up with him to ask a few questions about the process and he indicated the it was received.

Congrats, think it has been fairly quiet since the selection news was out.  Last bit of news I heard was that it could be 2-3 months after selection before we hear anything new.

Complete silence on assignment and background check. All I have heard is that I need an updated physical because my current one will lapse before the projected graduation date (very frustrating). But at least that shows there is movement going on.

Yeah. Long story short. My commissioning physical is valid for 2 years and was done prior to the deadline for the last SRDC board (missed submittal deadline). While still valid, it will literally expire the week before the class start date. So I have to go back to MEPS to have it done again.

Does anybody know what changed in the program that added the additional 2 weeks? I'm assuming the environment is still the same, boot-camp "ish", but just wondering what was changed with the class itself. That extra 2 weeks is a killer with young kids and a full time job. Going to have to really think about it now.

This is the first I'm hearing about the change...I had been accepted last year but got deferred because I had a baby last March and they have a 6 month post-partum rule for boot camp. So I had already signed my LOI for the 3 week program.

Definitely a little stressed about the extra 2 weeks with job/kids...

In case some of you are unaware, a private Facebook page has been created for our class. If you are interested in joining the group, make sure to search SRDC 02-20 on Facebook and request to be added.

Duane1990, I am from Corpus Christi. As you probably know, there were no Texas billets to select from. I since found out I will be stationed at SECTOR Miami Beach Enforcement.

The Facebook group is private so you may have to be invited by one of the current members.  There are a few guys from Texas in the group who have had to accept assignments in other states (some a bit far away)

Outsider here applying for this years SRDC. Can you give a quick explanation of how long it took to find out where you are going and if you know what your billet will be in yet? My recruiter said that you find out where you are going before going to ROCI and commissioning and you can deny anything outside a reasonable commuting distance. Wouldn't make sense to do if your only options were outside RCD though. Anyways, just wondering how long after finding out you were accepted that you had a detailer reach out to you to lock down a location? I'm in a heavy CG area in Virginia. Thanks!

    Hello everyone,

I have not talked to a recruiter yet (in the process). However, I am curious if anyone knows or has heard of time in service waivers / exceptions to policy? I know they have waivers for age and am hoping there might be some for service time. Especially since its for retirement purposes and I am using my time for Federal Civilian retirement and not military side.

Especially since its for retirement purposes and I am using my time for Federal Civilian retirement and not military side.

The other thing you need to check on is the requirement for prior military service.  This has been a requirement for as long as I can recall.  However, I've also heard that was not mandatory for this application year.  Might want to make sure

Hello everyone, I just started the process today for SRDC for the next panel date. When I was speaking with my recruiter earlier today, he did confirm that prior military service is not a requirement for the SRDC program now.
