Greetings!
The purpose of this thread is to gather those waiting for the Nov 2020 DCO Board results. It's also a location for candidates to provide updates or RUMINT (intelligence based on rumors) pertaining to the board results release date. I'm currently tracking "unofficial" results released to recruiters at the earliest late-Dec and more likely mid-Jan.
As you find out your results, let us know so we can follow up with our recruiters.
Best of luck to all! |

Hello I’m a Army guy looking to get selected for the DCA program on this board. I have been following prior boards to see how many people get picked up, but I don’t know how many apply. I’m interested in hearing from everyone. |

The OJAK provided selection rates, but hasn't been updated since 2016 (posted below). I'm interested as well, this is likely the first board where multiple applicants have developed a package after their airline dreams went on furlough. USMC Helo Drivers Aviation Bonus (AvB) just dropped $50,000 from last year to this year. I'm sure as manpower shortages stabilized the demand signal plummeted. Interestingly, there is still a restriction on Marine pilots (O-3 & Below) blocking inter-service transfers.
I saw the recent article lengthening Army service obligations from six years to ten. I'm not sure the Army is going to get the mileage they expect from that (IMO). DCA: 2012: 46.15% 2013: 25% 2014: 38.46% 2015: 17.39% 2016: 35.56%

It's typically June/July of the following year. |

The official message says: 04-21 DCO Application deadline:28 Sep 2020 Panel date: 30 Nov 2020 Commission/bootcamp: Apr/Jul 2021 DCO School: May/Aug 2021. The chart doesn't exactly line up on there, but commission around summertime. Good luck everyone, this is try #2 for me. |

Thanks for this info. I’m just trying to make sure it will line up close to my ADSO date with the Army so they don’t have a reason to stop me from switching over if I get picked up. |

I applied for the DCA portion of the board as well. Current Navy H60 driver. I was told my recruiting office had 4 DCA applicants. Anyone else know how many folks you applied with? I haven't heard any rumors on when the results will be posted. |

I am on the west coast. We had 3 army and 1 navy. Not sure how their hours/resumes compare to mine. I am just shy of 1600 hours in the H60 with 820 PIC time. Hit me up privately if you want to compare notes on how the process went for you. haha. |

The folks in my interview estimated it was going to be around 25% of the applicants get selected this round. |

I don't know if DCPA is part of the same panel or if they are released together, they are on the PY21 Officer Program as a rolling panel on case-by-case. |

No, that the DCPA results are support from the rest of the DCO board. Medraypa getting picked up probably doesn’t mean the DCO results are released |

I know I'm biased and desperate in my math here, but praying we might hear today (although that would be early) because maybe they had the paperwork routed more expeditiously than normal so the incumbent could sign before the holidays. Otherwise, nothing will get done before the New Year and the inauguration and Cabinet transition will shortly follow. |

Unfortunately, I think we will all have to wait patiently for the new year. Which will cause a tight turnover for those commissioning in April. I was hoping for a Christmas miracle but this might seal my acceptance that Santa isn’t real. *sad pilot sounds* |

It's only available through the Cost Guard Portal which requires a CAC card to access. If you're a civilian you won't be able to access it. If you are coming from another branch, I'm not 100% sure if you can access the CG Portal either. |

No other services can't access the CG portal where messages are.
Recruiters do get results before the message comes out. |

you would think the recruiters would right.. But I was told about my selection from ppl other than my recruiter.. My recruiter actually was the last person to tell me. So the message did come out on the portal and thats how my recruiter found out. |

From my understanding, results are available from the General Messages page (https://www.dcms.uscg.mil/General-Messages/). I believe we only require the portal if it is past 25 messages and is archived, or if internet release is not authorized. I signed up for these messages via email about 6 months ago and I get all sorts of cool stuff. Hope this works for everyone. |

No they aren't at yet. Ford333 was just saying where he has found some messages in the past. For the life of me I can't imagine why we haven't heard. If our commissioning is still April - this will be the latest notification that I have seen. My recruiter said they got an email monday saying the panel results were with the DHS Secretary. It should be soon. Hopefully today |

If results are waiting on the DHS Secretary’s desk, it could be a while, as I imagine he is fairly preoccupied at the moment. |

I know we are all just guessing here, but where on the timeline does landing with DHS Sec.'s desk occur? More broadly, from the time the Board convenes what are the steps before we are ultimately informed? |

So I am sure he has signed it or would sign it before leaving office - like I said it was a matter of two days getting it signed last board . It is literally just sitting somewhere. I really think we will hear today. Think about it, they don't want stuff he signed by released too late after his departure. |

Spoke with my recruiter this morning. He said the DHS Secretary resignation has zero affect on the release of the results. The flow of paperwork will continue, regardless of who's signing it. |

I really do not see how it can be any later than it is currently. This is absolutely maddening. I wonder if they are still trying to commission us in April. Like can we even get out of our services that fast? |

I’m not sure how the conditional release folks will have to handle it. I’m actually on a break in service. It will be tight for those who are separating from another branch though. Orders, clearing, more orders to PCS and then to attend DCO, etc. Hopefully we’ll hear today or tomorrow. I’ve been told that it’s usually on a Friday. |

I've received 5 email notifications from the ALCOAST/ALCGOFF (none about the DCO November Panel, though one had the subject "INTERNET RELEASE IS NOT AUTHORIZED"). So at the very least, that would suggest no MLK delays in getting info out today. |

If dont have access to the portal, you wont be able to see the message when it comes out because it releases in ALCRECRUITING. I'll post the message as soon as it releases assuming its authorized for internet release. I check the portal daily. |

Spoke to the recruiter today and was told that the wait would likely take another month due to covid and the inauguration. His source was the officer program coordinator. Hopefully someone else hears something better!!!!!! |

That is unfortunate, yet thank you for the word. When the Spring panel came out it only took a month and COVID was still fresh then. Hopefully we get an answer sooner rather than later.
Loving the communication on here folks, and I am glad everyone is staying positive on these matters. |

Spoke with my recruiter last week and am even more confused now. He said it didn't go as high as the secretary so that would have no effect. But that he called his contact at CGRC, who is the guy that handles the direct commissions, two weeks ago or so and was told that the selections are sitting on some admirals desk waiting to be reviewed, since he likes to look through them, and that's the last signature they need. That being said, he said it could be another month still. So, for whatever that's worth, just seems so inconsistent and I just want to know. It's hard enough trying to plan life around not knowing without the extra wait time that nobody can seem to account for. |

Well the current acting DHS Secretary David Pekoske is a retired USCG Vice Admiral, so here’s hoping he takes care of CG business while he has the seat!! |

My recruiter essentially told me to calm down and that the results aren't late (I have applied before and results, according to OJAK take 4-6 weeks - they took 4.5 last board). Clearly nothing has been formally pushed out to recruiters as an issue - I hope it isn't another month. |

I just went back in the forum and looked at the last board release dates for DCO and they were Fri, Thu, Wed, and Mon. So pretty much all over the place. Really hoping this is the week though. If you discount 2 whole weeks for holidays and DC craziness that would put this week as the sixth in that 4-6 window and I doubt that they would want to wait until February with an April commissioning. Fingers crossed! |

Well, I was checking the announcements from the previous years to see how much time they took to release the results in the past. The results for Oct 2017 were released March 2018 that's 5 months so its very possible for them to take way more time. I really, really hope I'm wrong and we see the results this week. Good luck everyone! |

Not to argue with you, more to provide hope- the candidates knew their results in December and started the process at that point. The official message was just never posted on the portal until that March |

I prefer what you say to be what is happening right now. I just want to know already so I can start planning. The reason for my post was to point out the they might take longer than 6 weeks based on that board. |

Yesterday, the ALCOAST released an alert about an action that was taken on 1/11. According to other RUMINT in this thread, 1/11 is the same date the panel results were on the desk for final approval. Another post indicated that it typically takes 2-3 days from the date that the results are placed for final approval to the date of release. If the timeline for the news alert is in any way related to the timeline for the posting of the DCO results, then we should hear today or tomorrow. See my work here: https://imgflip.com/memetemplate/92084495/Charlie-Conspiracy-Always-Sunny-in-Philidelphia. |

So a GOP filibuster was blocked to slow the nom of the new DHS secretary. Meaning, the vote to confirm him should be Monday. Although, we don't know if that is what is holding the release up. Is it because it hasn't been signed (because there was time to) or is there another issue? If he is confirmed this coming week, likely we could hear results that same week |

The LTjg promotions were released recently. If they are doing promotions with an active secretary, I'd hope officer accessions would not be dependent upon the new secretary getting the job. But I'm just a dude speculating... |

Doubt it. Spoke with my recruiter on Friday. He called his contact at CGRC again cuz he has multiple packets and some guys in the army currently and it’s still sitting on an admirals desk he says. Something about the process that he’s not happy about. Not sure. But between his three applicants one of us would have heard something I assume. Said it should be any week now (not new). But he said he can’t imagine it wouldn’t be this month with the April commissioning. So for what that’s worth. |

So I did just see that this morning that they released a messege to ALCOFF 017/21 about Officer Intergrations. These are folks that had temp and reserve commissions and are appointed to integrate into regular appointments (which is what we will all have to do after 3 years) - if I am understanding correctly. I am hopeful that the delay has to do with things needing to happen before our results can be released (i.e., seeing how many people are getting out etc). I would think that message explains the delay and hopefully means the ball is moving forward. Does that make sense to any coasties in this forum? |

So what I got while at the recruiter yesterday was CGRC sent an update on the boards. They were off the admirals desk and enroute to the DHS Secretary’s office for signature. And to stop asking. So apparently all of the recruiters have been bugging them non-stop about it. So good news Bad news is that apparently the selection rates were really low for this DCO round. Officer retention is up across the board so they didn’t need as many spots filled. So best of luck and hopefully now that it’s moving again it won’t take long at the Secretary’s office. |

When I spoke to the recruiter, they indicated that the CGRC update came on Feb 9, i.e. that it's at the DHS level. Since that was a week ago with a federal holiday, I wouldn't expect it back until atleast next week, possibly the week after. |

In my experience with DCE selection, the alternates will commission on the same date. APR/JUL is just a timeframe and nothing says it HAS to be APR for commissioning. Once the list comes out you'll get an E-mail a few days after (typically) from CGRC where you sign your intent to take or deny the commission. After that you'll eventually find your commissioning date and billets will eventually come out. It's waiting game after waiting game. Also it's typical that RIGHT before billets come out the alternates get notified if they've been selected. |

Anybody know when the next DCO board is?
The next panel is 09-21: Application due: 08 Mar 2021 Panel Date:24 May 2021 Commission: Dec 2021
If the Primary DCA or #1 DCA Alternate are on the thread, please send me a message. I would like to better understand how to make my package more competitive prior to resubmitting. Thanks.

20 deep. Wow. Someone earlier said there are 3 primary for DCE. They have to be planning on pulling from the alternate list just didn't know the exact number yet. Wish I knew where I was in that list of 20. All my recruiter said was I am an alternate. |

Does anyone know if they've ever increased the number of primary selectees before the commissioning date? My understanding is that the alternates only get a call up for a commission if the primaries don't make it (medical, security clearance, etc.) or just decline the position. Just wondering if they'll maybe change their mind and pick up a couple more primaries. |

As far as I know you are correct, In order for an alternate to get picked someone from primary has to be disqualified or say no. That said, I don't understand why so many alternates. |

The alternates can be either picked up if a primary says no, or if they have more billets to fill, which seems to be the case this time, CGRC is trying to figure out how many billets they will have available and could possibly dig deep in to the alternate list. They've seleted a lot of alternates this panel compared to others. |

Anyone else see ALCGPSC 018/21? It was a boat load of reserve officers (75 total) extended on active duty, might explain the extremely low pickup rate for the board. |

I know the unofficial list came out for DCE for 2 primary and 20 alternate. Does anyone know if those are the set numbers being selected or will they adjust for the official list? |

I'm hoping when the official list they have bumped some alternates onto it. I have no idea where I am on the DCE alternate list but every extra alternate picked up the better. |

Nothing; astonishing how it has taken over 3 months just to tell people that they picked one person per category. And the list still isn't out. My recruiter sounded ashamed of the process this time. |

I saw the top three DCE made LTJG. How does someone commission straight to LTJG? |

Usually, it’s due to either prior service at a higher or equivalent grade (CPT in Army goes to LTJG in CG, step down of 1 rank) or to make pay more equivalent due to outside education (a masters degree, or similar to how PAs usually commission as LTJG to account for increased schooling required) |

Interesting, but doesn't appear to have anything to do with officer recruitment |

Talent management and the mission ready total workforce are germane to the conversation. Admiral Schultz addressed officer commissioning/recruiting in a larger context during the State of the CG, albeit was omitted from the article. |

Skater, from what I've been told due to the situation with available billets for Junior officers or JO's I would expect the next panel to have very few primary selectees like this last panel but I could be wrong. |

Skater, unsure. I would probably agree with Real Quick. What's interesting is that the Commandant specifically stated that 2,500 Officers will be commissioned over the next 5 years, half from non-academy sources. That's 250/yr... Or 125 per semi-annual board. I just don't understand how they expect to get there at current pace. Video doesn't match the audio type deal. |

I'm not yet at this point, but is the requirement for the DCA program below a hard and fast rule, or is it possible to get a waiver? I have a couple more boards before I would hit this point, but planning ahead. Max Active Duty Service: Have less than 10 years of non-Coast Guard active-duty military service as of the date of accession, which is equivalent to the date that the applicant, if selected, will take their oath of office. |

Non academy sources also includes OCS. |

Nothing yet. I asked my recruiter recently and he told me the chances they are going to pick any alternates are slim. Hopefully he is wrong. |

This is absolutely waiverable. I want to say it's waiverable to 13. |

No news on my end. I'm also waiting for chief orders since I made the cut for that. So lots of waiting on my end. Really hoping I make it as an alternate so I don't end up pcsing and possibly making it next round and pcsing again. |
