Can anyone tell me about their experiences with SRDC?
    - where were you assigned after
    - what you recommend to someone applying to the program
    - are assignments purely need based

I am a 21 year old junior in college gearing up to apply.  I plan on having a law enforcement career full time when I am not doing assignments as a reservist

Anything else you have to say is appreciated!

Something to understand about assignments... Though the CG will make every attempt to place you at a unit within the Reasonable Commuting Distance (RCD-defined as 100 miles round trip from your zip code of residence to the zip code of your unit), you may be assigned to a unit outside the RCD, possibly even in another state. You will be responsible for commuting costs should this occur. This happened to three friends of mine. Two of them had to do this on their first assignments as officers. The third one managed to stay within the RCD for his first two assignments. On his third assignment, he was travelling from So Cal to the SF Bay area, a distance of 300 or so miles one way. Since last year he has been commuting from So Cal to Honolulu.

I don't tell you this to discourage you, but you do need to be aware that it can happen.
