I'm a licensed 100 ton Captain in the USVI, have been so for 10 years. I work on a (dive boat) inspected multi-passenger vessel w/ a current COI. My boss says he wants me to divemaster while working as a Captain. He says the mate can man the vessel while I'm diving. The mate isn't licensed.
This goes against everything I learned in my Captain's class. I spoke to a retired 05 in the USCG & he said I'm right but couldn't point me to the reg. I called Sea School in Ft. Lauderdale where I took my Capt's class & they agreed w/ me also but again couldn't give me the reg.
Can anyone give me the reg. that states that the Capt. must remain on board an inspected vessel at all times?
Thanks,
jt
