Classes 89-11 and 90-11 starts tomorrow. Another day and night class with 7 in each. This time David is in the day class. The original 14 that started in Feb are down to 3!
Shawn, how is the Airman program going? Well I hope. David said he tried to text you a couple times. This last 6 days he was in Florida! Back now and ready to start training again.

Off to a great start! David is one of the top two. The two classes have already combined and lost 4 guys the the first week. The weather is getting hotter and maybe makes it harder for the new guys working out. David is fired up and feels great. |

Good to hear! My son's class was in August and they lost 4 to dehydration right off the bat. Drink, drink, drink....they think because they are in the water swimming they are hydrated (not so). Keep us posted on his progress. Richard |

Tomorrow is the end of the third week and unfortunately they have lost 6 guys. One of them got a staph infection in his foot and will be rephased to the next class. David is doing great and looking forward to getting to where he left off, end of week 5 STROP Test!

Great news! David Munns, Joe Winters and Dave Froelick passed Phase I! David and Joe were in bootcamp together and new then they wanted to be AST's. Now on to some sewing. New class starts June 20. Best wishes to any of you who may be starting that class.

From what I understand the strop test is getting a safety strap around a survivor (who is an instructor that is being difficult to control) along with checking for injuries and any ropes they may be tangled in. This has to be done within so many minutes. The multi's was having several survivors in the water with different injuries and getting them in baskets, again within a certain amount of time. David said it was exhausting but he loved it! There won't be anymore physical tests for 8 weeks. Class room stuff and exercise for now. The last test, again from what I understand, is a review of what they have learned and has to be completed in a set time. I finally feel after 10 months (since the Airman program) a little relieved of the worry of him passing something! I know he will make a great AST and so proud of him.

Oh that is just terrific!!! I am so glad he is doing well and while the end is a ways of yet, there is a little glimmer of light in this tunnel. |
