I was wondering if anyone could answer some training questions about the MK "A" school. I'm enterring as a reservist and my contact told me three weeks for basic followed by nine weeks in the "A" school for the MK position. I am a Police Officer and this will more than exceed my thirty days. Which would mean I would have to blow a good amount of vacation time from my job in order to attend this "A" school. Is this the norm for a reservist coming in? Is their any o.j.t. training instead of the A school? Any information would help. Thanks

Hi! I'm entering as a reservist also. Talk to your recruiter about this concern. They may be able to put some time in between boot and A school. I'm in the middle of an A school conundrum, but my recruiter was trying to get me in for May 2012. I'm doing DEPOT this summer. When are you going to DEPOT, July?

If im not mistaken, Im sure i will be corrected if i am, any military leave has to be granted without repercussion according to the law. I think they have to hold it for like 6 months. I will find the site and post it when i do.

I was told July 11th for depot training and 9 weeks of MK school starting in late august.

So you'll a few weeks in between depot and A school. Depot will end July 29th.

You may want ot check with your recruiter about the length of MK "A" School. I am also a Reservists that graduated from "A" school in November 2010. The current length of school is 13 weeks. Training Center Yorktown's website will help spell out some of the specifics. Reservists are also not allowed to "strike" any longer so "A" school is the only option. I hope this helps.
