I leave for basic in about 3 weeks, I recently found out that the max number of cavities you can have is six. I know I have at least one but haven't been to the dentist in probably two years. It would be a stretch but what happens if someone has more than the six cavities allowed? |

I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Coastie, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves. |

You may want to get a quick check up. Its been a few sunsets since my time but I was enlisted with dental checkup not part of enlistment. After arrival during first week found out had to many and was medically discharged but not before getting to spend 3 more weeks doing grunt work around base while waiting on paper work . Had to go to civilian dentist and get corrected before re enlisting. Dispite what some may say or think making two trips to BC is NOT fun . To anyone that may find yourself in the same situation go to ICC and request a waiver. Wouldn't hurt to try. PS: Yes it was worth going back in......... but much rather had only gone once |

Just got back from the dentist....he said my wisdom teeth need to go...I'm just weighing the option of paying the difference on my insurance or waiting until Boot Camp and having them pulled there. My only worry is that 2 are probably impacted he said and I CANT imagine that being fun at all while at Cape May. Thoughts or experience on wisdom teeth getting pulled at boot and possibly having a few impacted ones? |

You will hear both sides of this story...doom and gloom on one side get them pulled now on insurance, to peaches and ice cream with a little Ibuprofen and extra sleep on the other... If it were me and my dime, I would let Cape May pull them. That was my plan for my son if he had gotten in, even with insurance they were talking close to $400 a tooth.

Impacted may be a horse of another color completely! If they are impacted that could delay your leaving boot camp, may delay your going to boot camp and the extra pain... I don't know. If they were just there, I would say Cape May all the way. Impacted... you might want to do it before you go. When are you going??? If it is close to your shipdate I might reverse my thinking. |

I ship the 12th of june. My dentist said its about a 5 day hump to get over the pain, but I wonder if showing up to to Cape May with any inkling of infection or dental stitches would completely screw me over in the dental exam. |

Surgery of any kind, to include dental will require a MEPS review. Your best bet is to talk with your recruiter. |

Hm. Ok, I can wait until I get to bootcamp, which looks like the thing to do in this case then. Thanks! |

Do you have to have your wisdom teeth pulled??? If the dentists decide they need to come out, yes you do. |

If you have the more then the max number of cavities can you ask them to pull the affected ones? Also does it change if your reserve? |
