im just curious when did you finish your phisical and stuff cause it seem like such a far away date im just woundering cause my hubby is going to be joining and I was just curious how long the whole process took for you!

Just finished today actually!, still at the airport on my way home haha prolly first contact my recruiter about 3 months ago. I would start to enlist TODAY! I was lucky I know some people who takes much longer, and you can wait up to a year to go to boot camp after you finish your physical and enlist into the DEP

If he hasn't already, he should get in touch with a recruiter tomorrow and get all the paperwork done ASAP and schedule an Apt to take his ASVAB. It took me about 4 weeks and i chose to have my ship date later because i wanted to get in shape for it. But I could of started earlier.

Right now there is a small window that is about to close in which they are accepting people and able to ship them off to basic, however i hear it is closing soon and they are close to mission complete. So once again if he hasn't already tell him to call the recruiting office TOMORROW and get a hold of someone.

Ya my recruiter said they were about done for the fiscal year which ends in October I believe

yeah he did fill out his application and sent it to his recruiter but he hasnt givin us the asvab dates and times yet...we see the recruiter on monday in humbolt california which is like a 4 hour drive for us...but Im hopeing we will get all the dates and things we need there....I guess we should just ask is there anyway he gets a garenteed spot this year?? thanks guys!

I'd say it just depends on if anything slows the process down like waivers or anything, but you might have a chance, after going up to my recruiters this week which is also 4 hours away I sure do appreciate them alot more, they have a pretty big area they cover and they were very busy but have always been extremely helpful

I filled paperwork out one week, took the asvab the next. Went to Meps the next week. Recruiter called me 4 days later and asked when I wanted to ship. I told him give me 2 months. He called the next day and gave me my date which was almost exactly 2 months away.

This wont happen untill he gets through the whole process. He needs to pass the ASVAB with a AFQT score of 45, and qualify for at least one job. Then he has to pass MEPS and his eQuip (background check), as well as a credit check. Once all that clears his recruiter can put him in for a ship date and wil DEP in (delayed entry program). Which means as long as he stays on the str8 and narrow he will have a reserved spot in a boot camp company.

yeah he took the ASVAB and MEPS like 3 years ago and passed everything with flying colors but we couldn't enlist then cause he didnt have his citizenship yet so his job was going to be limited in what he chose at the time....he is from belgium but now he has his citizenship so he has to take test again cause it was to long of a period from the last tests. Im just getting super excited I just want his dates for his tests so we can get a move on it! lol I know the saying they have in the military is hurry up and wait and I totally believe that now! lol

This is also my ship date now, I was supposed to be October 18th but my recruiter said a few spots opened up during August and September so I chose this one.

I just received word that this is my shipping date! Shipping out from Lansing, Michigan. 17 years old and will turn 18 while in boot camp.

Looks like we only have 10 weeks left!!!

I'm sort of nervous.
I've been studying the 11 general orders for the last week or so. How is everyone doing on the required knowledge?

sort of nervous also but very excited at the same time, I think physically for the morst part Ill be fine but I dont have any of my required knowledge memorized. What all is expected to be known before bootcamp other than the general orders?

Yea Id say majority feelings tend to be nervous and excited. Im doing pretty good on the orders and I already had the Phonetic Alphabet memorized. I know they definately require you know the 11 General Orders, Military Time, and Addressing military Personnel but my recruiter pretty much told me to memorize all of it thats in your Helmsman because they teach a lot of other things when you get there obviously but its easier if you already know the basics. So 11 General orders, Nautical and Military Terminology, Phonetic Alphabet, The Position of Attention & Parade Rest, Salutes, Addressing Military Personnel, and your Military Time are all under the Required Knowledge section. Im not worried about the physical requirements except for the running, I can do the PT part and endurance was definately my strong suit a few years ago but its all a matter of building it back up, once we get into the motion past the first hard part its all routine from there.
