I figured I should be friendly and say hello.
I'm hoping to join the Reserves, possibly next year (after I finish my master's degree). My first choice would be doing hands-on SAR work (though I realize that first choices don't always happen), so I'm thinking BM or MK.
I have a science degree from a top university, about four years of professional experience (not in anything that would translate directly to a CG rate), and a little over a year and a half's experience in the Civil Air Patrol (the US Air Force Auxiliary), where I have earned several qualifications in ground and air search and rescue and radio support (we don't get a lot of missions around here, though). I have Incident Command System training through the 300 level. I'm almost 26, a little older than your average recruit, though not, I gather, unusual for reservists.
I'm hoping that in not too long I'll be joining your ranks as a coastie.
