    Hey All, fairly new to this and looking forward to pursing a career through the Coast Guard. I am 24 years old and live in Union, NJ. I have attended college trying to atain a BA in Psychology but between a few dead end jobs and paying for college by myself its become quite frustrating trying to gain a grip of a succussful career. I have always considered military as a option and after some careful thinking i can't see why Coast Guard wouldnt give me a succussful career. My Girlfriend is excited for me to and we plan to get married very soon so that she can live with me. We have been together for over 6 years now and i couldnt do this with out her support. 
       Through careful reading and some soul searching I can either see myself heading in the Law Enforcement or IT.. I was considering AMT since i currently work for a company what build custome interiors for corp. companies i.e. Pfizer, Donald Trump, and General Electric to name a few. Its an interesting job but its really not one that can truly carry me to success. 
       What i find intreging about the USCG is all the positive feedback i have been reading from various threads and this gives me even more reenforcement that i am making the right decision. I also like the idea of being station throughout the US and possiably close to home which would be awsome. I am aware that i can be sent all over the world which dosent bother be since my girfriend and i have had are fair share of travel.
       Any way i look forward to becoming apart to this forum in the time to come thx all!

    Welcome aboard. I'm originally from NJ, Piscataway. I worked for years in Avenel and my family is originally from Perth Amboy. I hope you have a great career, it can be a pretty exciting one. Any questions, let us know. Someone is always around ready to help out if they can. Jump right in and start meeting some people... you could get stationed with them or ship to boot with them.
