Paaws, I'm doing good. How about you? You excited? It's coming so quick especially since I got bumped to an earlier date which is really awesome. My recruiter did a superb job! |

How is everyone doing with their memorization? I just realized I needed to memorize the Guardian Ethos, so wanted to see if you guys had started working on that, it's actually not hard to memorize. Here it is: I am America's Maritime Guardian I serve the citizens of the United States I will protect them I will defend them I will save them I am their shield For them I am Semper Paratus I live the Coast Guard core values I am a Guardian. I havn't started on the ranks yet... any tips for that? And am I missing anything? I have the 11 G O's, Phonetic Alphabet, and Guardian Ethos memorized. I still need to do the ranks, and the military terms... yeesh guess I'll work on that now.

I'm glad you posted that because I forgot all about it! I have the 11 GO's, alphabet, time, and military terms... I need to start on the ranks and Guardian Ethos. I'm trying to memorize as much as I can now so that I'm not cramming there while I am way over tired and we're under all that pressure. Ahh is everyone getting excited? |

Hi kdub13,
I was wondering how you were able to get bumped up early. My son asked his recruiter about a waiting list for an earlier boot camp date and he was told it’s not worth getting on and that he’s pretty much stuck with his Dec date.
Thanks! Samantha Parent of a soon to be Coastie

Don't forget to brush up on your CG history, famous Coasties ( esp. Douglas Munro), and knots knots knots. At least the Guardian Ethos doesn't contain anything as long as the 6th gen order :-p I am definitely psyched for the 11th GO's "time for challenging" |

Nice job, and the famous coasties you can just google it. But you have to know who Douglas Munro is, and also why he is famous in the Coast Guard, and why he has a statue and street and a hall dedicated to him. Just to name a few things to know |

Honestly Samantha, I got really lucky because one of the guys that was suppose to leave on this date didn't make weight the last time around and so he got temporarily disqualified. My recruiter asked if I would like to take his place and I jumped on the opportunity. |

well congrats! That's fantastic (though sucks for him). Thanks for the info Ojrivera, I'm going to look him up now. FYI, we have 20 days until we have to report for MEPS. 22 days until we step off that bus. WOW. |

You report on the 11? I was told just to be at MEPS at 5:45 AM on the 13th.. I feel like I might be missing something important here? :\ |

I too report on 9/13, because I don't have to fly across the country to get to Philly. |

Are you all bringing your cell phones? I would kind of like mine for the day we graduate but I wasn't sure if it was the norm to bring it (and obviously have it stowed away for basic) |

I report on the 11th to the hotel I am staying at. I don't live close enough to drive in the a.m. so my recruiter hooked me up with a hotel. I do processing and re-swearing in on the 12th, and am in the hotel again that night, my flight is the 13th but I don't know what time yet. Also, I'm in Seattle on the other side of the country so my travel time is naturally longer. |

Oh and yes I am bringing my phone. We'll have to leave it in our luggage we bring that they lock up, but will get it back after graduation. |

I'm a bit nervous, but it seems like we have a pretty intelligent/prepared group, at least those of us in this thread. I'm sure everyone messes up, and even with required knowledge memorized we're all bound to forget something when under pressure/deliver it improperly. It's just one of those situations we're going into where we know we aren't going to be perfect/we're going to get yelled at a lot regardless haha. See you guys in philly in a couple days! |

I know I was reading one of the journals the other day and one of the companies apparently is having some behavior issues.. ugh!! We don't need to make it any harder on ourselves than it already will be haha I hope we have a good group/we all work together. See you all soon! |

That sounds like the key. Working together, helping each other. No one will get rewarded for working independently. Anyway, I'll see you all in a few days. Safe flights! |
