My sons ship got a major drug bust.  They were off the coast of Honduras and with the help of many agencies & many people they were able to stop a semi-submersible.  They recovered 15,000 pounds of cocaine.  I am very proud of my baby & his crew!  There were several ships in the area working this case.  Here is a quote from the CO of the CGC Oak...

The Oak's commanding officer, Lt. Cmdr. Peter Niles, described the process as a "needle in a haystack search," but one that paid off handsomely.

It took some three days to remove the more than 200 bales of cocaine from the sunken vessel.

"This is once-in-a-career thing that happens," said Niles, a 27-year veteran of the Coast Guard.

 

Thats awesome! I can only Imagine how that would feel to accomplish something like that! Makes me want boot camp to come even faster!

The USCGC Oak? That is a Black Hull, that is so cool. My Son just got Stationed aboard a Black Hull. They have Multi-Mission capabilities.

We had two cocaine busts onboard Thetis last December and I have to say some of the most exciting stuff Ive ever been apart of. Awesome that they stopped a SPSS here in the Caribbean. I feel like as a collective fleet we have been making more and more stops in the acaribbean which is great.

So proud of our Guardians. Please convey our appreciation when you speak to your son.

There is a Naval Base and a small Coast Guard Station where we live. (Panama City Beach) (Forgive me, not familiar with the proper terminology yet!) Anyway, it is always nice to see the CG out in the waterways.
