So was Jimmy Buffet. There are a lot of famous people, even cartoon characters, that were in the Coast Guard. |

The Dude (Jeff Bridges) was in the Coast Guard during Vietnam. His dad, Lloyd was in during WW2 and his brother Beau joined in 1959 and served 8 years in the Reserves Humphrey Bogart was an Auxiliarist during WW2. Chris Cooper (the bad guy from the first Bourne movie) served in the Reserve. |

yep popeye was in the CG but then joined the Navy, I don't now the exact timeframe, but I don't think he was in the CG long. |

That would be Bluto... Popeye is an independent sailor (or "sailor man," as he puts it)...Many debate the military service in which Popeye served. In Fleischer's Popeye Meets Ali Baba's Forty Thieves, Popeye is found guarding his Coast Guard Station. Popeye even tells Ali Baba to "stop in the name of the Coast Guard." Later, other cartoonists place Popeye in other services, such as the Navy and Merchant marines.

Lol, I didn't read this post, hehehe, just yesterday found out he was a coastie and made a new post :p, he was in the coast guard, Brutus was in the navy. |
