Just got my DEPOT date assigned and ship out Jan 08 2012. Wanted to see if anyone was shipping out the same day. If so where you from. I am from Westchester County NY |

Hi I was just wondering, did you asked for Jan 8th DEPOT or were you just given a date from recruiter? I'm trying to get to Oct. DEPOT and I'm not sure if it's already full or not. Worst case scenario, I will be your DEPOT fellow mate.  BTW, I'm from NY and I'll be station at Sector NY (Staten Island) as MST. How about you?? ant..... |

XMCR,
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I asked for January because my brother is getting married in Oct so could not do that class. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out.
I am also from NY and am supposed to be assigned to Station New York if all works out. I am slated to be there but it may change. So we may see each other often. |

A lot of people said that DEPOT consists of older individuals....I'm 36 and initiall went throug basic almost 18 years ago! This should be fun at my age! |

Just finished DEPOT 01-12, graduated 4 November. At 36 you will be fine. Our company ranged 28 to 42. Just be prepared to be that Recruit again and things will be fine. |

I feel as though I should be in the DEPOT program. I am prior Coast Guard. I ship out January 3rd for regular 8 week boot camp, why didn't I get DEPOT?? |

Carolina you might want to talk to your recruiter about this it seems as if you should be in DEPOT but it depends on what your prior rate was and separation code.
From the go coast guard website
Prior Service Program - If you have prior military experience and are between the ages of 21 and 40, (we are not currently accepting prior service age waivers up to age 45), you may qualify for this program. Depending on specialty and separation code, veterans are eligible for enlistment in the Coast Guard Reserve. Training opportunities are available to members that possess military skills that do not correspond with Coast Guard ratings. Many veterans choose this program to maintain military skills and earn points toward retirement eligibility.

Have been assigned DEPOT class 08 Jan 2012 as long as my recruiter can "finalize" everything. "A" school in May for IS. Coming out of Fayetteville, NC. Ready for cold weather!!! |

Becca - they have my unit in Virgina Beach at MIFC LANTAREA. quite a drive from here, but I think it's worth it! whatever the Coast Guard needs, right? |

that is going to be quite a drive. i am stationed out of wilmington and that is two hours for me although fort macon is right across the river. at least it is once a month. nothing like some sight-seeing along the way. plus great running events in Virginia Beach. always find the bright-sides. :-) |
