@stonecold - not sure, i have heard of 4 yr and 6 yrs, but 6 is most common. I have a home here near Fayetteville, NC. @hunniebecca - way to be positive! I did see that Virginia Beach does have a lot of marathons and such, will definitely be checking those out! I was originally stationed in Wilmington - but the Coast Guard needed someone @ Va Beach so there I go....

I have not contracted yet to go... I basically got oh about 24 hrs to decide! Still bouncing it back and forth! I hate to waste all my years I already have in service- but I have also seen the "good, the bad, and the ugly" of the reserves! Had I never served before, I wouldn't think twice and I would give many good reasons for it however I have a lot of time in and question what direction I need to be heading in

It could be full.  I have had my slot in DEPOT for a while about 5 months I think.  So if you were just putting in your paperwork to get a slot now then maybe it was full.

Hmm...I'm not contracted yet and my recruiter said it's wide open for january? I don't know... My recent interactions with the cg over the last few years have not been very favorable! I'm starting to rethink and am leaning towards back in the Army!

@stonecold - yeah, the only "good" information i get is from a family member that works out of D.C. She states that the recruiters sometimes have so much going on that they cant keep up with everything, which i believe to certain extent. but, good luck with whichever route you decide to take!

I got a great recruiter... He is straight up with me and not pushy! Possibly cause this isn't my first rodeo. But he knows how I feel about certain issues and actually asked me to speak with a few younger people who were thinking of joining. He knows I don't sugar coat anything so that meant a lot to me

Stonecold when do you go in to sign your contract and finish your packet?  I know that your folder has to be at Cape May one month before the start of Depot if you have not finished that you dont have much time.
From what I was told as long as your recruiter put in a reservation for you to be in Jan Depot you get that slot as long as you paperwork and such makes Cape May in time.

I was told my packet is in cape may and the reason for the cutoff is for pay purposes. I'm supposed to sign today however have not been called by my recruiter yet despite leaving 3 messages.

Hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday!  Only two weeks left cant wait.  Dotting all my i's and crossing all my T's at work getting everything in order has been a pain but it will be well worth it.

Stay safe.

Almost here! I'm with you Ant I'm excited as can be! I am wondering how they separate us DEPOT recruits from the other company that day? I guess we will find out on Sunday!

DEPOT is the only company reporting on Sunday. The 8 weekers report on Friday.

The 8 weekers get there on Tuesday. They go through in processing and their CC's "pick them up" on Friday. They do not report on Friday.

Oh. Ha-ha! I think I got confused because us females in DEPOT 06-11 were in a squad bay all by ourselves. Only 5 of us in this huge squad bay.  Then, that Friday in our first week, all of a sudden, we walk into the squad bay, and 26 freaked out and overwhelmed females were in there too, the females of Romeo 185. That's why I thought Friday. LOL!
