Most Army jobs do not transfer over meaning you will have to come in as an E3. Unfortunately, With 8.5 years of prior service you exceed the maximum prior service time. You will not be able to join.
I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords. I'd like to remind them that as a trusted Coastie, I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

That is to come in to the Coast Guard as an E4. To do that, your current MOS would have to cross over to a Coast Guard job. Most do not. If you have a comparable MOS, a rate determination packet will be sent up and a determination will be made. If you come back as an E3 determination you will have too many years for entry.

    What is your MOS?

Do the TIS regs apply to officers as well? I'm a Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the army, and am interested in learning what opportunities, if any, may exist for me in the USCG when I'm done in the army. Thanks!

For the OCS program, you cannot have more than 6 years prior service time. Coming on to active duty would have the same time constraints as above.

It depends on the program you come in on. OCS is as Chuckles said. However, if you are a military trained pilot, which I am guessing you are (I may be totally wrong) there is the Direct Commission officer program that will allow you to get a direct commission to come over as a pilot but you have to have 10 years of service or less and I think the age limit is now 34. Check out Gocoastguard.com to get the current numbers for officer accession programs.
