Swinger,
I feel your pain I'm 30 - and also feel like I will be the "old "geezer lagging behind lol.

Hey my fellow battle buddies, This is our last full week of freedom! Ive been busy packing and working out, oh and studying the general orders I also been working out to Billy's Bootcamp DVD that is serious! Anyway,I'm tired of the build up and ready to get it over with already. But It's almost here! I'm freaking out! Ahhhh! The flash cards were very thoughtful thanks

I'm worried about the weather.... Has anyone bought or already have good pair of thermals? If so, please give me the brand name.

Im just going to pick up a pair of thermal bottoms this week. Ive heard a lot of people say the thermal long sleeve shirt is kind of pointless because of the jackets we will receive. So I'm just going to get some regular thermal bottoms not the expensive under armours. Hopefully it's a good choice lol! Pretty crazy that we are going to be the next company to arrive after tomorrow!

AND YES!!!!!one more week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its been about a year i have been waiting for this day!

Hey Reicitom,
Thanks for the tip - I will stop by Walmart tomorrow. I remember the first time walking in to the USCG recruiters office March 2010 - so I'm ready to get this show on the road! But I'm still terrified - I got butterflies already. What scares me is the recruits that get reverted, I hate the thought of that but I'm praying for strength and sanity

Hey 31sters!
I talked to my recruiter Friday and he informed that our company has 84 recruits and (20 o f them are females) he said that's a pretty big company. I hope everyone is enjoying their LAST weekend - but not too much see everyone soon.

Hey does anyone know if you NEED to present your SS card at MEPS when you ship? And to you know if a passport would suffice instead? They already have copies of my SS card and my recruiter has copies of all my ID's.

I was told you NEED your SS card - I felt like you, 1)I don't like traveling with my SS and 2) there are copies of it in my packet - but you must present it & bring it along with you. What company are we?

Well I guess i'm not going with you guys.. I keep my SS card in the same place all the time and its not there.. ive torn my house apart many many times. The only thing i can think is that it has been stolen while i was on my honeymoon but that doesnt make much sense to me either. This is a nightmare! I hope to ship out with you all, but if I don't good luck!

Go to your local SS office tomorrow... they MIGHT be able to get you a card. While you are driving there start dialing your recruiter. Let him/her know what is going on. Because one office mandates you MUST have it, another might not.

Swinger,
You have come way too far to give up, come to MePS anyway and see what happens. Hopefully, you will get someone willing to help you and not work against you.

Swinger... You absolutely need to report this to all 3 credit reporting places. A stolen SS card can play absolute havoc with your life!

Thanks for the encouragement I wasn't completely defeated, but very discouraged. I called Chicago MEPS this morning and they said that a letter/receipt from the SS office would suffice. My recruiters said that a passport will be fine and that MEPS already had made their own copy of my SS card. I now have those SS documents in hand and am finishing packing. I will see you all there!

Your right, I probably should just to be on the safe side. I don't think anyone has stolen it, but there is no other explanation.

It won't hurt! I would rather report something is wrong and nothing ever turn up then get out of boot in 8 weeks and find out someone has chartered a private sailboat for an aruond the world cruise on your social security number!!!

Ready for this little tidbit of safety... You know how they say never keep your SS card on your person in case your wallet gets stolen? Well in Virginia, at least when I lived there in 1996, your driver's license number was your SSN! I don't know if it is still the same way now but I always thought that was rather stupid!
