So it seems the guys shaving schedule has been pretty well laid out on here. Just curious as to the female side. Any set time/schedule for leg/underarm shaving? I assume the "dry shaving" goes for us as well, which I'm relatively ok with. How often do we get to take care of our shaving? Is there a set time or do we need to take care of it on what little "free" time (divine hours?) we have? All I know is there is no way I can take care of regular washing, plus shaving if 3 minutes is all we get in the shower.

Female posters in the past have stated that they would simply not shave for the 8 weeks during boot camp, others said they would shave 1 leg this shower and the other the next, some recommend a waxing just before boot as that would get them through the 8 weeks without being to bad...

There aren't shaving drills for females. I suppose if you can grow a beard like a side show freak you might... but legs & underarms aren't seen unless you strip off the uniform. So there is no requirement for you in boot camp. Underarms can be done in about 4 seconds flat, each pit. That takes nothing to do and easy to maintain. Legs are another story. As Capt says, a lot of females will just forego leg shaving while in boot.

Since I hadn't heard anything about it so far, that's kind of what I was thinking. Not too concerned about legs, underarms are kind of another story. Just thinking about if a new box of razor cartridges would be worth buying/bringing.

Absolutely! Legs I can go a while without doing... I never wear skirts or even shorts so who sees my legs? I don't think my Labrador or Belgian Malinois gets all bothered by my hairy legs, I tolerate theirs, they tolerate mine. LOL But armpits... well, no one really sees those either but EWWWWWWW. Those must be kept "tidy"! LOL

Oh, dear God. OG I don't even know how to respond to that. Just know that I'll probably never sleep soundly again.

@old guard. I can't say I've been given a nickname even close cactus jack.

@russolini, are you talking about waxing a beard? I've never heard of that before.

Just to add to Gears minds eye... Have you ever heard of a Belgian Bikini Wax?? I've had them... it's a normal bikini wax but it hurts so damn much I treat myself to a Belgian Waffle afterwards!

Leg wax, moustache wax, hairy dogs & me. HAHA Poor Gears... there just isn't enough bleach for his mind's eye.

Halloween? Shaving unwanted hair? Maybe someone should start collecting and be Big Foot or the Yeti.

Wait. Now I'm grossing myself out. ::shutter::

Who is going to see it? Seriously, WHO?

If you can find the time (which you probably won't) go for it. I'd just except the hair for 8 weeks.

Don't we all shower together? It's just about cleanliness and personal preference. Some girls do not want to be a wilderness...

Trust me, you are all going to be hairy wildabeasts. In bootcamp, personal preferences go out the window. You have 90 seconds to shower. If you can shave in that time, be my guest. Bring the razors with the built in shave cream.

PS: Your own body hair isn't dirty. If it was, we'd all be sporting shaved heads. Maybe you "feel" that way, but it's certainly not true.

Haha good thread. Um... Sundays... isnt that like the free day? Or the possibility the recruits can relax? That is what I heard? If that is the case can us ladies shave then?

You get divine hours from 8a to 1p on Sundays. You can shave in the sink, but you will not be getting longer showers. Occasionally, we earned a 5 minute shower but only a couple times, in later weeks - like, oh, the night before graduation. But by then you will either have gotten over trying to shave or will have figured out another way.

Your pubic hair actually can be very dirty, it does trap bacteria and dirt. Although serving a protection and a barrier, it can be dirty. I don't feel that way, I am medical professional....

Oh seriously... if your ego is that insane that you think you need to trim the nether regions for 8 lousy weeks you seriously may need to find another professsion. Do you think the nurses in the Phillipines during WWII were worried if they were trimmed up neatly? No, they worried about the boys being brought in on stretchers. Do you think the women currently serving in Afghanistan, no matter what level of service, are worried about this?? They have more time, some days. But there are other times they are doing things where that is the very farthest thought from their minds. What I do personally is none of your business and it is pointless because what I did at 16 is different from what I did at 26, 36 and now at 46... but I can tell you one way or the other I have never been told by a medical professional "Well, if that was a little cleaner, you wouldn't have gotten the flu." So leave the whole medical opinion at the door unless you are an ob/gyn and can present New England Journal of Medicine proof that we should all look like 4 year old girls.

    Bahahaha.

I did the one leg at a time deal. We showered alot, at night, after gym, sometimes during the day after getting the crap kicked out of us. We were in the summer so we smelled. Gym class showers tended to be the longest and that is when you can do some more shaving if you need to. But honestly, if you can shower with me for 8 weeks the. you can watch me shave. tough love.

Dont be surprised if out of bootcamp you develop the habit of coming out of a stall and Then doing your belt and zipper up, because other recruits are waiting to use the bathroom. I catch myself doing it alll the time cuz we share a a head on the boat too so it tends to happen at restaraunts if Im not thinking. oh man lol.
Develop your backbone. Not your wishbone. The world doesn't give out anything.
