Hello my friends:  Finally after 2 years of been thinking about join the Coast Guard I just get my ASVAB day. It's going to be the 3rd of November and because I was living in Miami, Florida having two jobs, married with a 3 year old child I was having NO time at all for my ASVAB book, and/or practice test. So because of my situation in Miami ($$$) I found a really good job over here in a small town in Illinois so I make the big jump leaving my family back in Florida until I find a please etc but I just work for 3 days a weeks so I was using those 4 days off for start over again in the Coast Guard preparation and I find out that it was working really well studying a lot having over 85% in every part of the practice test and I was feeling really like ready for contact the recruiter from over here.

So 2 month ago I contact my new recruiter over here near Springfield, IL and I found out he was 2.5 hours far from my house but anyways I want to do it so I schedule a appointment with the recruiter, took the train stay in a hotel so the next day I went to his office and it was wwaaayyyyy different experience than my recruiter from Miami. I didn't know if I was talking to a recruiter or a CC??? I was having a lot of questions, trying to get some answer and he was probably having a bad day he told me that i don't need to be calling every single day to check the status of my aplication and he schedule me to take the ASVAB (near my house thanks God)  and he said Anything else??? and I was like well I wright up some questions for you and he jump a said well take the ASVAB and them we talk about questions... finally me, felling like dog crap in the floor, I said well I'm really sorry about taking 20 minutes of your time but it was really important to me getting the ASVAB referral and you're not gonna hear from me until I ace my ASVAB test, thank you so much and have a wonderful day lol the ... said you're welcome.

but anyways I'm still taking all kind of practice test, reading a lot and hopefully I reach the 70's so I can get the job that I want. I let you know guys any update on my process and any comment or advise will be strongly appreciated.

    thank you once again= LUIS

OK, there are MANY recruiters on this forum. Some of them post, some just hide in the shadows reading what people are saying. While I understand your frustration, calling your recruiter an asshole (even if it is disguised with punctuation) will not win you any favors. You have to remember, as it was said in another post, your reruiter is one man answering a lot of questions, you are part of a legion of people wanting those answers. Possibly he had 25 other recruits coming in that day, possibly he was going to do a school presentation, perhaps he missed something and just got hs butt chewed on by a superior, maybe he was leaving the office for 3 days to attend some training and he was extremely pressed for time... you have no idea what he is dealing with or how many recruits he has coming in asking questions. Calling names never, ever helps a situation.

I can semi-understand the attitude of take the test, then we'll talk. He needs to know that you are going to pass it first, pass it with an acceptable score. He needs to know which jobs you qualify for. There is no need to discuss rates and possibilities if you don't qualify for those. The best way to save time is take the test and then discuss the options that are open to you. There is no job in the world that has a higher rate of "Hurry up & wait" going on. You just need to wait until all the appropriate i's have been dotted and t's have been crossed. You will get where you need to go, you just need to be patient and wait for that time to happen.

    Best of luck.
