Ive heard of people being able to stay active in the military in general after they have received the surgery. My question is, have people got into the military after receiving ACl surgery? I know this is waiverable but honestly have not met or heard of someone who has had ACl surgery prior to joining the military that has got in.

Too many variables to give a good answer. It is very difficult to get into the Coast Guard with no waiver required. Your best bet is to get your medical paperwork together and submit to your recruiter.

I know that just wondering if you personally may have met people that joined the coasties after they had surgery?

Everyone that I tried to bring in with ACL injury and/or repair has been rejected. I have met those that have had the injury once in.

yeah i figured. ive heard of people having the surgery and still being cleared for active duty but i have yet to hear of someone who has gotten in after surgery. id hope i could be an acception for the coast guard but if not at least in one of the other branches

I had a friend of mine a few years back that wanted to join the CG and be a rescue swimmer. Coast Guard said no. Air force let him be a pararescue jumper though.

awesome yeah my first choice is cg but id still consider other branches. as for PJ thats great id hope to get the chance to get in any branch honestly the all seem great and a challenge. thanks for the info Floridagirl and chukles

My son had acl surgery and he was able to get a waiver and he left November 1 for boot camp.
