A little bit of family news while y'all were gone. Even though he's nowhere near the top of the advancement list, the BM detailer has decided to fleet up the boy at his current unit, so he'll be in Destin for another two years. However, I have no idea when he will actually be advanced to BM3.

He's happy about his orders since he has a new gf there in Destin. He worked the Billy Bowlegs festival today which, I'm given to understand, is the boating equivalent of Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street, and now he is on his way home for two weeks of leave.

Oh, and the youngest graduated from High School yesterday. A year ago, I wouldn't have bet a plugged nickel on that, so it's something to celebrate.

    That is great news Wep...

I know exactly how you feel on the high school graduation...we were questioning it all the way up to the very last minute of the very last day which was Friday and graduation was on Monday...talk about extreme rush in getting a cap and gown at the very last minute...but a diploma in hand is one of life's first hurdles.

Please give your youngest a "Great Job" from me and if interested in becoming a firefighter be sure to send your youngest my way...

Wep, that's great news. I know the feeling, I wasn't so sure about Colin either. But he negotiated his way out of high school and got into the CG. So long as he has that diploma, I don't care how he got it!

Enjoy the leave with your oldest boy!! Is the gf coming home with him?

Yes, they drove over together and we just met her for the first time this morning. She's staying for a couple of days and then flying back. If she can stand us that long... :-)

OMG! There's no 'edit' and no 'delete message' feature!!! Calm down, take deep breaths. That's it. You can do this, remember you started out on a typewriter and if you made one mistake, you had to start the whole page over. This will be a piece of cake compared to that...

I just tried it from the list of people and it says they only accept messages from friends... well I'll just have to friend everyone! HAHAHA

But thanks, Jessica, I tried that and it worked. I told you this little font, my Old Guard eyes are having a heck of a time seeing things. LOL Thank you!

Jen, open the picture with "paint" you should see it as an option when you right click on the picture and scroll down to "open with". Then click "image" up on the top tool bar, then click "stretch/skew" and adjust the 100%'s to a lower number like 80%, save as and then try it. You may need to do this a couple of times until you get it small enough to be accepted by the size limits. This is what I discovered when I posted Michael's graduation pictures a while back...had to have one of my rookies figure that one out for me...lol

    Hope that helps.

Macie, I am looking forward to all of the old stories...I will have to break out the magnifiy glass to read them though...

I have tried zooming the page but then I have to move the screen back and forth to read the posts and that is no fun.

You need an external application that has crop / resize capability. Windows Picture and Fax Viewer can't but if your system has Microsoft Photo Editor on it (usually comes with MS-Office), that does just fine. If you don't have that, try Picasa which can be downloaded from Google. There's a button for cropping and you resize by 'exporting'.

Aspect ratio is a problem: The site pretty much requires square icons but most pictures are at least 4:3. So you have to crop the picture as well as resizing it, otherwise it will be distorted (squished).

I used to know how small I had to make a picture before the old site would let me upload it but I'm not sure about this new site yet...
