I can't believe we have just found this site. Our son is in J178 Healy Hall. We got our first phone call last Friday. He is going to Oxford, Md. on the Eastern Shore. Not to far from home, we're from NC. Does anyone know when they will get to call home again. He's in his 6th week. |

I think they should get another chance to call this weekend(on base liberty) and next weekend(off base liberty) when they have liberty. |

Hi there, My son is in J 178 also. I imagine they will be getting on base liberty this Saturday, hopefully.. so there may be calls coming your way from your son. Keep a phone with you at all times just in case. So glad you found this site...its a great place to pass the time until graduation...which by the way will be here before we know it. Wow!! My son called last Friday to let us know that he is going to be on the USCGC Kukui out of Honolulu and we are in WA state...will be far but so exciting for him and a great adventure. Welcome to the site! |

Welcome Ashliz! My son is also in J178. What a feeling getting that first phone call! My son will be stationed in Atlantic City, NJ. Close to home as well since we live in MA. Are you planning on going to the graduation? I have a picture of our loved ones while marching for another graduation taken on 10/5 would you like me to send it to you?

Ashliz - I am with you I just found this site as well. My mother just found it and forwarded it to me. I have been reading over everyone's comments and what a big help. My son is in J178. I spoke with him last Friday night and he said all is good but he is ready to come home on leave (Indy). He will be going to Portsmith, VA assigned to the Bear Cutter.
We are heading to Cape May for graduation also.... :)

INDYMOM! WELCOME to the group! We got a GREAT group of people on this forum.
I got to say, there's quite a few people on here with ties to J178.
So far I've only come across 1 family who has a son in my BF's company (I-178)!
Anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck with your travels to Cape May!
I still wish Hawaii was a little closer! Tickets are CRAZY! lol.

amazing - I found some parents of J178. My son is 18 and from So. Calif. yes right around the corner from the fires - Santiago Canyon. Last letter we got was joyful - no other way to describe it. He is going to Valdez AK on the 110 Long Island. There is not easy way to travel there and it is remote but beautiful. We are so excited to see him graduate. We are very excited to see him again. |

My son is also in J178. Friends of ours son graduated early October and took a couple of pictures of J178 while marching. If you send me a private message with your email address I will be more than happy to send them to you. Maybe you will be able to see him.

Ply - I don't think I ever got the chance to thank you for the pictures!!! I found my husband almost immediately. He has a big head (both metaphorically and literally lol) and he is the one whose hat doesn't fit just right lol. Love him to death but our children will probably inherit his large head and big ears =) Anyway, thank you so much! The last 6 weeks have been crazy, and seeing a glimpse of him made all these emotions and thoughts come running back to me! Thanks again! |

GuzmanM, I'm glad I could share the picture with all of you. I know what it meant to me to see my son. I can't believe that we only have to wait 2 more weeks to hug our loved ones. I also look forward to meeting all you wonderful people that have made these weeks much better for me. THANK YOU TO ALL!

Just got a call from my son J-178. My daugher was in her ballet class and got a chance to talk to her brother as well.
Sounds like some of the company has had colds. My son is feeling better but had been pretty sick.
He is going to Valdez, AK along with another guy from his company. Very busy place apparently. Would like to know more about the station if anyone can share on that... He said he needs to do a serious shopping trip to REI. We are also shipping up one of his mountain bikes.
He was really shocked to hear about the fires in our area and how close they came to our house. All the great mountain bike trails are gone It was so good to hear his voice. I remember how much I love that kid!! He told me that he has made some close friends in Juliet and it will be an emotional day at graduaion.
I hope to meet all my fellow coastie moms and dads in November. |
