Hello Everyone- I just received my 1st letter from my son. He wrote his girlfriend last week. He sounds really good but the first line of his letter was "Everything is kinda ok. I'm having a bit of hard time hear but I'm sure it's going to get better." Then he said that probably wasn't the best way to start a letter. He said he misses us so much and he misses sleeping in, watching TV, and blinking without getting in trouble, just everything about home. He said he is bunk mates with Tyvon Gray and 2 or 3 racks is James Ketcham. I met both of these Mom's on the message board. He said he shares his letters with the guys.  He also seems to be making good friends.  He said the letters are a big help! He can't wait to see us. He said it sucks that they will only get in the pool 3 times while they are there and they hardly run. The 2 things he is really good at swimming and running but they do alot of push-up and sit-ups. He said they still don't have alot of time. The food is OK and they are getting huge portions. This makes me so happy because last week he told his girlfriend (mglisan) that he wasn't getting much to eat. He said please send pictures but make sure they are normal sized and non-pornographic.LOL and no cards. I was laughing so hard because he signed his letter Love, SR CRANE, JUSTIN. He is already militaryized (I made that word up)

I look forward to hearing from others when they recieve their letters.  I cried when I was reading his letter.  It was a mixed of emotions.

KKMORRIS! Congrats on receiving your first letter!!! Don't worry about your son's opening line. My boyfriend said the same thing in his 1st letter..."I hope you're doing good cause I know I'm not. This stuff is stressful on the mind and body. =(" Yeah..I cried after reading that. BUT...it is expected for the first few weeks. Ohhh and in terms of food, they're being fed pretty well. My boyfriend said for breakfast they have all the usuals...french toast, sausage, eggs..etc. AND he even said he had steak for dinner. I couldn't believe how well they're being fed. OHh and they get 20 minutes to eat. My friend who is in the Air Force couldn't believe this because he was only given 5 minutes during his basic training.

Anyway, Congrats once again! I'm sure you'll be hearing from the rest of the group tomorrow and Friday when we get our letters.

    TAKE CARE! hop

Hooray KKMorris - just keep thinking with each day that passes it is one more behind them. Every week that passes gets better and better. My sons first line was "It's not easy.... I know it will get better". I was worried about the food thing and then his letter said the food was pretty good  - they just had to eat fast. I figure it's all okay though because he never got in a hurry about anything - they take 2 min showers - it use to take him 2 min to get a towel - wash cloth - and another 2 to turn on the shower!!! LOL Unless of course it was something he wanted to do. Keep us posted.

ms. kim im so happy that you got a letter this week. I finally got home from classes around 10:30 and jumped in the door and read mine. he explained everyday life there and about the showering situation so im guessing he's gonna be coming home a little stinky. lol. but ill go over all of that when i talk to you tomm. it was so good to hear from him and he once again said that it was really hard, but the guy next to him was missing his girlfriend so every night they have a countdown as to when they get to see us again! i thought that was so freakin cute. he also told me that it was hard getting in shape because of all the food they get to eat. so that made me so relieved! and what is he worrying about? our boy was in the shape of his life before he left. haha. it was so good to see that he had more time this week to write and that he was really appreciating our letters. i hope it only gets better for him!

Hi Kim, I also got my 1st letter today. I just walked in from church to write you and I see we have the same GREAT news. Tyvon told me that Justin was his bunkmate. I read Justin's girlfriends post about the other guy that is really missing his girlfriend that's Tyvon. His first line started out saying I'm fine I guess, he said it's alot of work but he's going to give it 110%.

    Day to day activites:
Justin wrote his grandmother and gave her insight on his everyday activities and I thought I would share.

6am wake up to CC screaming in a loud speaker FIRE, FIRE, FIRE. Then they run outside for 20-30 minutes of IT (intense training). Then they have 10 minutes to change, shave and brush their teeth and line up outside for chow. Then they go to school and more IT until 7pm. Then they have to these crazy drills until they can actually wring out their shirts with sweat. Then at 9:45 they have to shower, shave again, brush your teeth in 15 minutes with only 6 showers. He said that isn't happening. Lights out at 10pm.
