Hey Im new to this but its nice to see everyone on here sticking together at moments when we all feel lonely. wish i would have known about this two weeks ago which were the hardest weeks. My boy friend of 4 yrs left my side for the first time when he got shipped to boot camp. I felt like I lost my best friend. I had recieved a post card with very little words but seeing his writing made me feel good inside. I read the journal yesterday it was nice to know they are acting as a team so I know he's doing okay. I also recieved two letters from him today, he sent them both together for the first time. He wrote sunday the 12th and sunday the 18 th. It was the most exciting thing i couldnt believe it.

Glad you found us! Welcome aboard. Everyone tries to stick together as much as possible. We've all been through some level of separation and anxiety. Let us know if you have any questions, we are always happy to help. If you feel like just chatting, please, jump right in.

It seems silly, handwriting on a piece of paper can make you so happy... but for a few weeks you will feel that way every time you open the mailbox and there is a letter.

wow bverian, 11 pages, good for you. tell your hubby to find my son and put a boot up his butt, we barely got 11 words. haha. actually it was great to hear from him regardless.
my wife said on bluefish inn facebook site that they should have their first run on video today.they said they normally run the 4 most senior company's so we should be good to go. here is a link for all that may not know about this already. they said it should be up by 4pm today. lets hope we can all spot our recruits.

Phone calls MIGHT start as early as Thursday. Most companies will not start calling until the weekend. Delta didn't call home until Sunday. So be waiting for the calls but don't be disappointed when they take longer then you are hoping.

The calls will be from pay phones on base. It will show up as area code 609. I truly wouldn't worry about Wednesday & Thursday night. The chance is there that they MIGHT call but it is a very, very slim chance that they will. More than likely calls will be on Saturday and/or Sunday.

If it is earned there will be calls Saturday of week 6 during on base liberty. Then again, if it is earned, during week 7 for off base liberty. Then Friday they graduate.

That sounds great! So during week 7 if they earn the off base liberty, that's when they can have a visitor? And do they get their phones back for that day?

Techincally, yes they can have a visitor. Should they? Well that is open for interpretation. That weekend off base is their first chance to test how they behave when not under the watchful eye of the CC's. It is also their one and only chance to have a day, off base, with the shipmates they have just gone to hell and back with for the last 7 weeks. You will have your recruit back to yourself 6 days after that, I strongly suggest allowing them to have that Saturday with their shipmates. Visitors just aren't necessary.

No, they will not have their cell phones back. Most go to Walmart and buy a prepaid phone for the day. It must be thrown away prior to returning to base. They will not get their personal phones back unti lthe night before graduation or the day of graduation, that is at the CC's discretion. Even if they get the phones back on Thursday night, they aren't supposed to use them to make calls, just the ability to charge them if they would like. So don't expect a call the night before graduation, again unless the CC says it is alright.

Sometime during week 6 the recruits willl put in their order for company t-shirts, long sleeve shirts and sweat shirts. They shirts are designed by an art team made up of recruits from Hotel 186. They are unique to this company. Parents always ask after graduation how they can get one and the answer is YOU CAN NOT. The price range is about $10-$20. I suggest you write you recruit with your order. Include the type of shirt and size. You can pay them back later or put money in their account. Just didn't want you all to miss this opportunity

I stole that from Tiffany, a CC wife, over on the FB group. Just in case anyone isn't a member of the group.

Excited about possible journal entries tomorrow! Hope everyone is doing well. These weeks are flying!

Bverian, Nice job by the hubby, poor guy must of been in serious pain writing that letter after the wisdom teeth being yanked out. Were almost half way done. I think tomorrow is physical fitness test. Hope they all pass with time to spare.

Don't worry about the recruits who get their wisdom teeth removed; they do it all the time in boot, and they are very good at it. Lots of chipmunk cheeks on first ID cards.
My son said the teeth were a good trade for a night on the ward instead of in barracks! He got to have a long nap, chat quietly with other recruits (NEVER allowed in barracks), eat nice stuff at his own pace and , he said, best of all, a kind nurse with a soft voice to wake him the next day instead of a CC.

For orders? About 2-5 minutes, short, sweet & professional. There is not a lot of time for jibber jabbering and chit chatting and absolutely no mushy mushy talk on his end coming your way. I would curtail it back to him as well. Listen, take notes, say I love you, hang up.
