I was looking into pre commissioning as suggested by Cooch and had a quick question. I found the only historically black college in the area (university of the district of Columbia) and I intend on applying. If for some reason I can't initially get accepted and go to a community college for my freshman and sophomore year, can I still apply to the program as long as I attend a HBC my final 2 years? Or does all of my schooling have to be from an HBC? Also, is this something the CG is always offering? I know things are pretty tight right now, especially with recruiting officers.

Yes, the program is designed for Juniors and Seniors in college. Cooch will be able to elaborate he's the resident expert on CSPI.

Yes, you can. I did not attend a qualifying school for my first two years and then applied (and was accepted) to a qualifying school. I was accepted for CSPI this year, and will be leaving for boot camp this summer so I have firsthand experience!

The CG has been offering CSPI for quite a long time but it has gone through some major changes over the years. It is a fantastic program and I am ecstatic that I was accepted. Be ready to work very hard and make yourself competitive. You're lucky because you have two years to prepare. I decided to do the process just a couple months early and had to get all of my paperwork in order AND get accepted to a qualifying school. It was no easy task, but use your time wisely.

Good luck. PM me if you have any other questions. As mentioned above Cooch is a fantastic mentor for the program (trust me on that one).

    Thanks eaw. I try.
You can meet the standard, or you can set the standard. It's your choice.

When applying for the program through your recruiter, do you already have to be within weight standards? and do you go to MEPs before you qualify? I'm about (according to my wrist measurement) 6lbs over where I should be.

    Thank you!

Wrist measurements are no longer used. You will need to be within BMI standards. Look under the frequently asked questions thread for the current weight chart.

And yes, you have to be under the limit to go to MEPS and qualify.
