Does anyone know offhand if there is a difference in time between panel results submitted for approval to DHS and those submitted for approval to the Commander for CG Personnel Service? My assumption is that an approval submitted to DHS would take longer, and thus postpone release of the panel results. Any advice?

I don't understand the question. Would you mind restating?

    Sure.

I should probably provide more background too. As someone who is waiting for the CGRC 05-12 panel results, I find myself in the same boat with many others who are eagerly anticipating their release. Based on previous cycles when panel results have been released, typically the DCO panels took anywhere from 3 weeks to 8 weeks (as I believe many of the moderators here have also indicated). In my personal experience, when I was not selected for a panel 2 years ago, my notification letter arrived in the mail 3 weeks after the panel concluded. However, in other DCO panels, I've read on this forum and the OCS forum about successful DCO applicants receiving their notification within 2 weeks of the panel's conclusion.

Most recently, I've read about the CSPI panel results, where applicants were notified within 2 weeks following the panel conclusion, and the results were even published at the USCG message website within 2 weeks. Given that I'm trying to predict the release for the DCO panel based on the timeline for the CSPI panel, I've been going over past panel announcements to find similarities and differences. I know this whole exercise is likely a waste of time, because it is a process outside my control, but it helps ease the waiting when I feel like I'm uncovering the mysteries of the process. Based on my review, one difference I singled out between DCO and CSPI panels is that DCO panel results get sent to DHS for approval, and CSPI panel results get sent to Commander for CG Personnel Service for approval.

Based on that difference, I'm trying to determine if the approval process involving DHS takes longer, that way I can predict if the DCO panel results will arrive in roughly the same time frame as the CSPI results.

I see. You've clearly done your homework. I wish I had an intelligent, well thought out answer for your intelligent, well thought out question. It looks like letters have been making it out the door within 2 weeks of the panels concluding, so that would be a pretty good gauge to follow. I would anticipate at least another week to account for anything out of the ordinary happening.

Thanks for your response Gears. I know I'm just spinning my wheels on this, and the letter (or hopefully phone call) will come in due time. I appreciate your feedback.
