Hey guys I know we have a section on bootcamp ship date but I am curious who is still waiting for a ship date? I would like to get a feel for how long people are in processing. My first contact with the recruiter is Sept but Meps was at Oct. I required a waiver that made me wait until Feb. I am now ready and waiting for a ship date. Today is April so I have been waiting for about 6 months.. What about you future coasties?

My first contact with the recruiter was February this year. Did the medical a few weeks ago and am now awaiting a ship date. I'm joining the reserve mind you, and my recruiter says that spots for boot camp this year will close after September 30th. He tells me that I'll probably get sent this summer. Pretty stoked.

I'm still waiting as well. First meeting with recruiter was January. I first went into MEPS in March but needed a consultation. I just finished up with all of that about a week ago so currently new to waiting. I'm a female and heard I might get in a little quicker/smoother than the guys so guess I'll see.

I just passed MEPS a couple weeks ago and my recruiter just told me he signed me up for a day in August, i should find out this week what day! Also i believe i started talking to him in .... September but I've been talking to other Coast Guard officers about it for about 2 years no!

I saw my recruiter in the beginning of March, went to MEPS the next week took the ASVAB and medical. I needed an ortho consultation that went well and I was cleared A-OK for that and then I am currently waiting for a medical waiver. My recruiter told me sometime in October.... he said it is going to take a while but I will be fine. I already did my Equip security clearance stuff and signed all my paperwork, just waiting for that medical waiver. I am 6 weeks into the process and done... now just waiting........ I have heard if everything goes well at MEPS and all that its about 6-9 months till you go. Anyone with medical waivers 9-12 months.

I didn't know people joining the reserves went to bootcamp. Anyway, I can't remember when my first contact with my recruiter was. Seems like it was sometime in february. But I'm getting closer to a date. I've already been through MEPS and all that. It will be pretty soon.

People in the reserves have to conform to the military life style just as well as active duty. Reservists will be right along side you all 8 weeks. Imagine just stepping off the street into the reserves without boot camp? You wouldnt have the slightest clue.

I've already got my date but just an idea on how ling i waited, i contacted my recruiter in april of 2011 and went to meps in september of 2011, got sworn into the DEP in april and i ship out end of july. but i live 5 hours from my closest recruiter so that might have played a factor in the LONG process. lol
