After being at the top of the list and having three different classes cancelled on him, my husband finally got orders to A-school today! We are SO relieved. His cutter is going into a 10 month dry dock soon, and as a GEO-bachelor, he needs the cutter to live on. If he didn't get orders to A-school, we really didn't know what we were going to do since his command is not letting people go TAD elsewhere...and he would have been homeless and miserable. I'm SO happy it worked out, and I know he's super excited to get to A-school. |

Congrats on the orders! I wish him the best of luck. Remind him that "A" School is a privilege, not a right. When the instructors lay down the rules it's in his best interest to follow them. I expect you to post his Honor Grad status in the coming months. |

He's heading to EM A-school in Yorktown, VA. He reports 25 June and will graduate 29 October. He was the Honor Graduate of his boot camp class, so I expect nothing less! He takes everything very seriously and is a hard worker. I will be moving to wherever he gets stationed out of A-school next summer, so only one more year of long distance! I'm aiming to graduate with my Ph.D. by the end of next summer. In fact, my Ph.D. qualifying exam is tomorrow morning - wish me luck! |

It did not go well. They said my presentation was one of the best they've seen, but then I totally screwed up the question and answer period. I've never had such high anxiety in my life and I don't know what happened. Since my presentation was so good, they're letting me take a written exam in 2 weeks as another chance...so I guess it's back to studying... |

Keep your head up girl! You'll do great, don't let life knock you down I graduated nursing school so I understand the insane amount of stress that accompanies it. You'll knock the written out of the park. POSITIVE ATTITUDE |

They know you are good and know your stuff... nerves can play hell with the calmest of people! Study but don't forget to allow yourself a break in the 2 weeks. Too much studying might just clog what you know you know! You know?? I'm with Nurse on this one... You've got this locked. Good luck! |

Congratulations are definitely in order! My son loved his two time trip to A-school in Charlston. As Gears said, it is an honor to be accepted into any A-school. It is especially perfect how the timing fell into place, a double blessing!

Thanks kyuscgmom, my husband just began his third week in Yorktown. He said it's really hard (he hasn't been in this type of schooling environment in such a long time, and his college degree is in arts not sciences), but he's studying a lot. His class is also very small (only 6 people), so they're all working together, which is great. I can't wait to find out where we're going, but I have to wait until September or October for that! His A-school is 19 weeks long so he doesn't graduate until November. |

It goes by really fast. Colin's school was 18 weeks long and he graduates next week already! It seems like he was just visiting me in Wisconsin before A school and he is graduating already. It goes quick!! Sort of like boot camp. It doesn't seem like it is going fast and then all of a sudden... DONE! |

Out of Seattle? Yay! You will have a couple of Coastie moms to touch base with when you visit, OldGuard2. One of them just a had a bbq for a handful of young folk stationed in/near Seattle. Congrats to him |

Awesome! A new place to visit. If I had to pick somewhere on the west coast to be stationed, I think it would be Seattle. Are you going to be able to attend his graduation? |
