I am not that nervous but i have been on my own for a long time so that probably helps. It is so hard to get in the coast guard so for sure don't back out. You will do fine. What exactly are you nervous about? My name is also Erica. As long as you remember that what the company commanders are doing is to help you and it really isnt personal it will be fine. Every once in a while when the amount of days we have left pops in my head I get a twinge of terror, but I just remember that we are starting one of the most awesome adventures of our life, and I am ok.

I thought it was october 19th. Every graduation is on a friday. Yes You need a lot of stuff. I can't believe he never told you. Did he give you a helmsman because there is some stuff your required to know when you get to basic. I am looking in mine and this is what you need.

3- White v-neck tshirts
6-10 pair of WHITE underwear
Cartridge only type razor
Bible or religious reference book
Religious medallion if wanted.
Watch (optional)
Address book
Stationery Stamps Envelopes
Hand/body unscented lotion
Pre paid phone cards------Can be recieved free through callsforrecruits.com
Tooth brush
talcum powder
family photos

ADDITIONAL PERMITTED ITEMS FOR WOMEN
Birth control pills
Cloth covered elastic bands to match hair color
Gold/Silver bobby pins or ones that match hair color
Only one set of ball earrings less than a quarter inch diameter
Feminine hygiene items
Hair dryer
Makeup(minimal amount)
Sports Bras (white/skin tone) 6 each

I also have crew socks. Anything you dont have you can buy there. No biggie. You need to bring you ID and Social Security Card. Make sure whatever you wear is comfy and functional. Google the helmsman if you dont have it.

First welcome to the forums. Second, if you haven't gotten a helmsman yet I'd get it ASAP! Call your recruiter, and bring exactly what the helmsman says, I was told nothing less and nothing more from my recruiter. I have met up with my recruiter a couple times, but I am going into the reserves so I got to see where I am going to be stationed.

I was also told that our exact graduation date is Oct 12 from my recruiter, thats what I've been telling my friends and family, I am gonna call my recruiter tomorrow to double check now.

I'm on my own too, but I still live fairly close to my parents and all of my friends, I was feeling more nervous about a month ago than now. Now I just feel like its coming up so fast that its going to be over before any of us realize it(boot camp), it will be like the blink of an eye. I remember when I first set up the count down timer on my phone and it said 90 something days. That feels like yesterday. Boot camp is going to absolutely fly by and its going to be the best experience of our lives (so far) in my opinion.

Duffle bag I believe. Some people just use a backpack but all mine would not fit in a back pack. Wear something that doesnt stand out to much and comfy. I am wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Dont wear flip flops wear tennis shoes. Dont forget you have to wear full bottom undies to meps.

i never thought about a back pack i think ill use that since im planning on buying most of my stuff when i get there do we get to wear the shoes we bring the whole time or they have specific ones for us? it just seems like new shoes are harder to run in than broken in ones

they will give us a pair of new balances. They want everything we were to be the same so that no one stands out.
