newark is a bit farther drive than Philly. I'm surprised the flights are cheaper, it is generally the other way around. The drive isn't horrible. I lived only a few miles from Newark airport and drove to Cape May plenty of times. The traffic, especially this time of year, can be brutal!!! But if you are going down to Cape May on Thursday and driving back north on Friday, you shouldn't be too bad. Friday you would be going against the majority of traffic. Thursday, there will be traffis there always is. But nothing you can't work around. Give yourself PLENTY OF TIME to get back to Newark to catch your flight. It is summer season and the Jersey shore. But again, you will be going against the traffic for the majority of the drive back to the airport. That's why I would prefer Philly... you are going away from the Jersey shore. but if the tickets are that much cheaper, Newark works.
