So my bag is mostly packed... I think.
My plan is this. I have a large barrel bag that I am going to place into a 40L back pack. Then pack the barrel bag.
So far I have: 6 pair white socks 6 pair undies 3 vnecks 6 black socks
3 ounces of: 3 part shower soap (Soap, Shampoo, shave) Sunscreen Toothpaste Talc Lotion Boot Polish Deodorant Bug Juice
Toothbrush Boot brush and cloth Razor and Blades
SSN Card Plane Ticket DL Temp ID Directions to the USO and phone numbers
The Helmsman
I can't imagine that I will need nail clippers. If I do I will get them there. I might take a comb for graduation.
The Monkey thanks you.

You won't have enough hair for a comb And you will get black kiwi when you are there before you ever get your boots, but you will need more. So if that's what you got, saves you from buying it there. If you run outta room in your bag, ditch the boot brush and cloth. Again, you will get that stuff there. |

Its odd because I have been told the opposite. That we will have to go the PX for most of the stuff. |

You should be getting a dity bag with the boot stuff in it. However, in DEPOT maybe you don't get all the same things. Bring it since you already have it. Worse they do is keep it in storage until you finish up. Sure can't hurt |

Bug juice = Bug Spray Must be a colloquial term. |

Where I grew up, bug juice refers to a juice that has been spiked with alcohol. |

In the Boy Scouts we bought large quantities of a product called Bug Juice. Usually came in fruit punch or orange flavoring. Pretty much your cheap Koolaid. Each pouch made 5 gallons at a time and it did not come in resealable packaging, quite annoying when your camping. I wouldn't put it past the leaders to spike their own haha |

Disregard the list on page 6 of The Helmsman. In addition to your uniform items, DEPOT is only issued the following: • Rucksack (loaner) • 4x towels • 1x pair shower shoes • 2x combination locks • 3x laundry pins (loaner) • 3x laundry mesh bags (loaner) • 1x laundry sack (loaner) • 1x notebook • 1x 3-ring binder • 2x black Bic pens • 1x canteen • 1x masking tape • 2x athletic supporters (men only) *The items marked “loaner” must be returned at the end of training. Regarding the nail clipper, sure you probably won't need to trim your nails (though I did towards the end of week 2), but they are handy for trimming loose threads off your uniforms. You WILL have loose threads. A scissor is easier, though. I bought a small scissor from the kids section of my local department store. As long as they have a blunt tip and the blade is less than 4 inches, TSA's current regulations allow them as a carry on. Also highly useful: lint rollers! I used mine multiple times per day; both on my own uniform and on my shipmates uniforms.

I am bringing my own jocks. They are broken in and comfy. I will also bring some Glide. Helps with nipple rash/bleed and other things on hot days. |

I definitely recommend the Glide. Lucky for us it was cold enough to wear long johns. But some people chaffed *bad*. |

The chaffing on the chest becomes an issue for me when I don't wear a tanktop under my shirt when I run. I definitely recommend it. |
